When people think of Speech Pathology, they often think of speech and pronunciation, but Speech Pathologists support people in so many different ways across all stages of life.
Here are just a few things Speech Pathologists do that you might not know about 👇

Dysphagia: Speech Pathologists don’t just help with speech, they also assess and treat swallowing difficulties. They work with people after stroke, illness, injury, cancer treatment or neurological conditions to help make eating and drinking safer, more comfortable and more enjoyable.

Working with children before they talk: Speech Pathologists support babies long before their first words develop, helping with feeding, oral motor skills, play, interaction and early communication development.

Communication beyond talking: Not everyone communicates verbally, and all communication is valid. Speech Pathologists support people to communicate in ways that work best for them, including AAC, communication devices, visuals, sign and eye-gaze technology.

Professional communication and voice: Speech Pathologists work with teachers, singers, actors, broadcasters, lawyers and public speakers to support vocal health, confidence, clarity, projection and communication skills.

Gender-affirming care: Speech Pathologists support transgender and gender-diverse people with exploring voice and communication styles that feel authentic and affirming to them.

Speech Pathology is such a broad and diverse profession, with support tailored to every individual’s goals, needs and way of communicating 💬

Our WA Speech team came together for a wonderful morning of craft projects, baked goods and plenty of laughs, aptly named “Craft & Croissants” 🥐✨

The morning was a great reminder of the importance of connection, collaboration and taking time to recharge outside of the day-to-day.

Safe to say some of the team are just as talented at art as they are at therapy 🎨💬💙

Telehealth, but make it comfortable 💻✨

Starting telehealth for the first time? Your setup does not need to be complicated.
Sometimes all you need is:
✔️ A laptop or phone
✔️ Comfy clothes
✔️ A water bottle nearby
✔️ Your trusted pet supervisor 🐶
✔️ And a therapist ready to guide you through exercises and support your goals from home

If you are someone who prefers services at home for convenience or accessibility, Physio Inq has telehealth appointments that are personalised to your needs. We help provide support where you feel most comfortable, with no gaps or changes in care from in-person.

If you are interested in telehealth appointments, click the link in our bio to have a chat to our team!

World MS Day is recognised each year on 30 May, shining a light on the experiences of people living with multiple sclerosis (MS) and the importance of continuing to raise awareness, share stories and strengthen support within our communities.

This year’s theme, My MS Diagnosis, highlights the importance of early and accurate diagnosis for people living with MS. It also draws attention to the global barriers that can delay diagnosis and advocates for improved education and training for healthcare professionals to help people access the care and support they need sooner.

At Physio Inq, we recognise that every MS journey is different. Through personalised allied health support, education and compassionate care, we are committed to helping individuals living with MS maintain independence, confidence and quality of life.

National Reconciliation Week runs from 27 May to 3 June. It’s a time for all Australians to reflect on our shared history and to consider how we can move forward together with respect, understanding and genuine connection.

This year’s theme, All in for Reconciliation, is a powerful reminder that reconciliation is something we all play an active role in. It calls on each of us to move beyond reflection and take meaningful action in our everyday lives to create lasting change.

At Physio Inq, we recognise the importance of listening, learning and walking forward together with our communities.
