Established in the heart of Adelaide’s eastern suburbs, our flagship hospital offers 76 beds, five operating theatres, a dedicated maternity unit, a high dependency unit, and a range of specialist and surgical services. With a team-based focus on patient safety, comfort, and best practice clinical care, our Toorak Gardens location continues to provide a range of advanced healthcare services for South Australians. Standing with one of our Burnside babies💙

Three years ago, Elsie's journey began at Burnside Hospital. Earlier this year, her family received the devastating news that she had been diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a rare and aggressive brain tumour.

Her story has touched so many across our community, and we are thinking of Elsie, her family and everyone walking this journey alongside them.

The response from the community has been extraordinary, with people coming together to help Elsie access a personalised treatment that offers hope in her journey. It is a powerful reminder of the difference compassion and community can make.

Meet our rockstar doctor. 🎸

Today, our team had the pleasure of welcoming Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgeon for an engaging education session at our Toorak Gardens site.

Dr Cameron shared insights into his career, his approach to patient-centred care and the broad range of reconstructive and aesthetic procedures he performs. Along with discussing his work as a surgeon, staff also learned about his life outside the operating theatre as a founding member of Adelaide rock band Bad//Dreems.

Dr Cameron consults at and operates at Burnside Hospital, providing expert care across reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgery.

These permanent full-time and part-time roles span our surgical and medical wards, as well as our High Dependency Unit (HDU) — offering the opportunity to deliver exceptional, patient-centred care in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, you’ll provide safe, evidence-based nursing care aligned with the NSQHS Standards. Your role will include comprehensive patient assessment, care planning and evaluation, responding to clinical changes, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting smooth patient flow.

You’ll bring strong clinical judgement, professionalism, and a clear understanding of your scope of practice — contributing to a culture of high-quality, compassionate care.

We’re looking for an experienced, relationship-focused leader to oversee our Preadmissions function across Burnside Hospital’s Toorak Gardens and Stepney sites.

This is a permanent full-time role (or negotiated part-time 0.8+ FTE) and plays a key part in ensuring patients experience safe, smooth and well-coordinated admission pathways from the very start.

Reporting to the Director Clinical Operations, you’ll lead a dedicated multidisciplinary team and take hands-on responsibility for clinical assessment, patient suitability, risk identification and admission preparation.

You’ll also help strengthen systems and workflows across both sites, supporting great patient flow, integration and effective use of hospital resources.

With a strong external relationship focus, you’ll work closely with Visiting Medical Officers, specialist practices and healthcare partners to support seamless admissions and service growth.
