Camp Hero programs helping young leaders connect, grow & thrive πŸ•οΈπŸ’ͺ

The zero2hero team envisions a world where mental illness is dealt with openly and treated as a normal part of everyday life. zero2hero is a WA-based not-for-profit organisation with a mission to address mental health problems openly among younger people. zero2hero believe that through communication, mental health problems can be effectively dealt with and su***de can be prevented. Through specialised events the zero2hero team help create supportive networks that encourage speaking out about mental health. zero2hero’s events such as β€˜zero2hero day’ and β€˜Camp Hero – Youth Leadership Camps’ equip school-aged children and teenagers with the skills to speak up when they are struggling and the confidence to stand up and support their friends when they may be experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, bullying, self-harm or suicidal thoughts. Our programs aim to unleash the heroes of today, to become the leaders of tomorrow in the campaign to promote good mental health throughout their communities.

From being supported by Telethon7 Perth, to giving back to the Telethon community ❀️

In 2025, Abel, Mackenzie and Katy arrived at Camp Hero #47 as 15 and 16 year olds, with their places at camp made possible thanks to Telethon.

Over five days, they challenged themselves, built new friendships and learnt more about their own mental health, how to support others and the kind of difference they could make in their communities.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago...

Now Camp Hero alumni and school graduates, all three volunteered their time to represent zero2hero at the Telethon Family Festival, supporting the very community that helped give them their Camp Hero experience...and they were still proudly wearing their Telethon Camp Hero shirts πŸ₯Ή

It was a pretty special full circle moment for our team, and a reminder of what can happen when young people are given opportunities to learn, grow and realise the impact they can have on others.

We’re incredibly proud to be a Telethon beneficiary and to stand alongside so many organisations working to support WA kids and families.

For the past five years, our partnership with Chevron has helped us equip over 55,000 young people across WA with mental health education.

Through their commitment to youth mental health, Chevron has helped students from across WA attend Camp Hero - five transformative days where teens challenge themselves, learn mental health and su***de prevention skills, build resilience and discover the kind of leader they can be in their own communities.

It’s a partnership that’s really special to us because Chevron doesn’t just support our work, their people are part of it. Chevron employees have stepped up as Camp Hero mentors, taking time away from work to share their own experiences, encourage our campers and help inspire the next generation.

Thank you, Chevron, for five years of backing young people with us ❀️
