Occasional self-disclosure as a psychologist can be a useful thing, both for the therapeutic relationship and for honest communication about what we actually know from experience rather than theory. I walked the Cape to Cape Track recently and wrote about what four days alone in a large landscape taught me about depression, self-belief, and why the body sometimes has to show the mind what argument can't.
