🔥 BIG NEWS 🔥

For the first time in FRESH history, we will be entering a Girls U18 Team into the 2026 Global Youth Sevens (GYS) in Auckland, New Zealand from 18–20 December 2026.

After witnessing the impact our boys' programme had on young athletes, families, and our wider community, we believe the time is right to create the same opportunity for aspiring female rugby players across Western Australia.

This is more than a rugby tournament.

It's about building confidence, developing leadership, creating lifelong friendships, and representing something bigger than yourself.

It's about Purpose.

We are looking for passionate, committed, and coachable young women who are prepared to challenge themselves against some of the best youth rugby talent from around the world.

What happens on tour, stays on tour… well, almost! 😆

Tour life is about creating memories, building friendships, and occasionally becoming the target of a legendary prank.

This time, our GYS U18 Captain, Jensen Gowdy, woke up to discover his un**es had been frozen and carefully arranged to resemble the Irish flag! 🇮🇪❄️

Safe to say the boys were pretty pleased with themselves, and Jensen took it like a champ.

While the rugby is serious, the laughs, camaraderie, and unforgettable moments off the field are what make tours truly special.

What started with one group of young boys chasing an opportunity at the Perth Fiji Day 7s in 2012 has grown into something far bigger than rugby. From that very first FRESH U16 Junior boys team to our latest U18 boys squad proudly representing WA at the Global Youth 7s in Auckland in 2025, the journey has been built on faith, family, culture, hard work and belief in our young people.

Over that time, 285 junior players have come through the FRESH family.

Some have gone on to achieve success at high levels of rugby, while others have grown into outstanding young men and women making a positive impact in their communities, workplaces, schools and families. That has always been the true purpose behind FRESH.

This registry is more than just names and numbers.
It represents sacrifice, growth, brotherhood, sisterhood, culture, resilience and opportunity.

Every training session.
Every fundraiser.
Every early morning.
Every tournament.
Every player who wore the jersey.

No matter how many games you played or how long your journey lasted, once you are part of FRESH, you are always part of the family.

We are proud of every single junior who has represented our club and helped shape the legacy that continues today.

FRESH is heading back to the Global Youth 7s in Auckland, New Zealand December 18–20.

This year’s campaign theme is PURPOSE inspired by Proverbs 19:21:
“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”

We’re now recruiting Perth U18 rugby talent ready to test themselves against some of the best young athletes in the world.

Every year, the Global Youth 7s attracts elite New Zealand based talent from strong rugby pathways and high-performance environments. The level of skill, speed, physicality and rugby IQ is unreal and the interest this year has already been massive.

This is more than just a tournament.

It’s an opportunity to:
• Compete against top talent from around the World
• Train and build connections with elite athletes
• Raise your own personal standards
• Experience one of the toughest youth 7s environments in the world

🎥 GYS Testimony Series – Part 4: Corban Dunlop

We close out our Global Youth Sevens testimony series with Corban Dunlop.

Corban, a New Zealand–based player, brought an outstanding level of professionalism to our squad — a true reflection of our mantra, “Iron sharpens iron.” His standards, preparation, and approach to the game set the benchmark for those around him and elevated the group as a whole.

Having developed his rugby through the prestigious Hamilton Boys’ High School, where he was part of their 2024 NZ National Top 4 1st XV Championship-winning side, Corban’s experience and mindset were invaluable throughout our campaign.

His journey is a reflection of growth, accountability, and stepping into his role with intent. Corban embodies our PURPOSE campaign — showing that success is built through discipline, consistency, and a commitment to something bigger than yourself.

As we wrap up our GYS 2026 “PURPOSE” Campaign testimony series, his story is a reminder of the power of standards, environment, and surrounding yourself with the right people to grow.

🎥 GYS Testimony Series – Part 1: Captain | Jensen Gowdy

We begin our 4-part Global Youth Sevens testimony series with our captain, Jensen Gowdy.

Jensen’s journey to the Global Youth Sevens has been built on leadership, discipline, and leading from the front. From his rugby experience in Ireland to now leading our FRESH squad onto the international stage, Jensen represents what our new campaign is all about — PURPOSE. Playing for something bigger than yourself, standing for your brothers, your family, and your community.

Leadership is not always about being the loudest voice, but about setting the standard, earning respect through actions, and uniting people under a shared purpose. Jensen has embodied this throughout our campaign, and we are proud to have him lead the way.

As we launch into our GYS 2026 “PURPOSE” Campaign, this is more than just rugby — it’s about growth, opportunity, and representing something that lasts beyond the game.

Community Outreach in South Auckland

FRESH was incredibly grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community in South Auckland through Papatūānuku Kōkiri Marae and their impactful Kai Ika program.

As part of our 2026 “Purpose” campaign, this experience was a powerful reminder that our journey is about more than just rugby. It’s about understanding our “why” — serving others, connecting with community, and using our platform to make a positive impact.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing hosts, Matua (respected elder) Carlos and Whaea (respected female elder) Valerie, whose manaakitanga (hospitality, care, and generosity) and leadership brought this kaupapa (purpose/initiative) to life. Your guidance gave our players a deeper appreciation of what it truly means to give back.

The Kai Ika program plays a vital role in supporting whānau (family/community) by providing fresh food and helping feed the community. To contribute, even in a small way, reinforced the values that sit at the core of who we are as a club.

This is what Purpose looks like for FRESH.
Not just competing on the world stage, but showing up for community, culture, and something bigger than ourselves.

We went there with open hearts, and we left with full hearts.

We were blessed to be a blessing.

Ngā mihi nui (big thanks) to everyone involved for allowing us to share in something so special. ❤️
