A Vivid experience to remember ✨🩵

Last week, our residents at Glenmore Park Care Community enjoyed two special evenings at Vivid Sydney — taking in the lights, fresh air, and city views with warm drinks and light bites along the way.

The bus rides quickly turned into singalongs (think ABBA and Elvis), with plenty of laughter from start to finish. For many, it was a chance to revisit the city after years away — bringing back fond memories while creating new ones. And new friends were made, with residents from Ashfield Terrace Care Community joining in the fun on the second night.

To top it all off, the fireworks at Darling Harbour were the perfect ending to a joyful night out! 🎆

World Environment Day 🌿

Today, we’re proud to highlight our partnership with Scouts Victoria through the Container Deposit Scheme — helping reduce waste while supporting the next generation.

Recently, team and residents from Box Hill Views Care Community visited a nearby recycling depot to see firsthand how containers are processed, using state-of-the-art technology. Every container returned helps fund opportunities for the Scouts in Victoria, from outdoor adventures and practical skills to leadership and community projects.

At Opal HealthCare, bringing joy to those we care for extends beyond our Care Communities. Together with Scouts Victoria, we’re creating meaningful connections across generations and working toward a future where care, community and sustainability go hand in hand.

A yearly tradition of giving back 🧸💙

Residents at Quakers Hillside Care Community proudly continue their commitment to Westmead Children’s Hospital, raising funds amounting to $700 through their annual fair.

These donations go towards the care provided to children and their families — a cause close to the hearts of our residents.

A tale of two Pauls 🤝 👥

At Blacktown Terrace Care Community, team member Paul and resident Paul — affectionately known as Grand Paul — have formed a wonderful bond that goes far beyond a shared name.

What started as simple greetings has grown into insightful conversations between meaningful mates, where life lessons, memories, and advice are exchanged with mutual respect. From building a successful business against the odds to reminding us that kindness and humility matter the most, Grand Paul’s wisdom continues to inspire.

In return, his friendship brings inspiration and a sense of purpose to the younger Paul, who carries these lessons with him every day. 💗

From organising her Mum’s birthdays to celebrating her own – a lovely full circle moment took place at Quakers Hillside Care Community for resident Linda and her family 💛

For her special day, Linda’s enjoyed a Great Gatsby-themed celebration, featuring the same entertainer, Brian, who once helped create cherished memories for her family. This time, Linda’s loved ones returned the gesture.

With daughters Lieda and Michelle by her side, and residents and team members joining in the fun, it was a celebration filled with joy, connection, and Great Gatsby glamour ✨

A wish, brought to life 🪄💫

Through our 'Wishing Well', residents are encouraged to share their dreams — big or small.

For Christine, resident at Bayswater Gardens Care Community, that meant returning to the Blue Mountains to take in the fresh air, beautiful scenery, and peaceful surrounds she’s always loved. With the support of our team, her wish turned into a day filled with laughter, connection, and special moments shared with friends 🌄

More than a simple outing, Christine’s trip to the Blue Mountains gave her the chance to revisit cherished memories and create new ones to treasure.

🌟 Celebrating Our Wonderful Nurses 🌟

On International Nurses Day, we celebrate our exceptional nurses and carers at Opal HealthCare whose dedication and compassion bring our purpose – to bring joy to those we care for - to life every day.

This year's theme: “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives,” emphasises the essential role skilled healthcare team play in caring for and enabling the wellbeing of vulnerable people.

As Australia’s population ages, the need for competent, confident team to care for people with complex needs is more important than ever.

Our sector-leading Nurse Graduate Program, delivered through our Opal HealthCare Academy in partnership with tertiary education providers, guides graduate nurses from tertiary study into clinical practice at our Care Communities.

An extraordinary 599 nurses have participated in the program since its inception in 2023, and we’re proud to be playing our part in helping to build a skilled workforce to support older Australians.

Celebrating a beautiful mother–son bond this Mother’s Day 💝👩‍👦

Alex speaks warmly about the love, care, and support his mum, Susan, who lives at Broadwater Grove Care Community has given him throughout his life. Today, he feels grateful to be by her side, sharing moments and continuing to make special memories together.

At Wallarah Point Care Community, caring for our coast is part of caring for our community 🌊♻️

For the past three years, a resident-led recycling initiative has been turning plastic bottles into meaningful support for local organisations. Each month, residents and team members visit the local Return and Earn to recycle together, knowing every cent from recycled bottles contributes to impact for their community.

Residents Leila and Lola proudly joined team members Julie and Tan to present the awards for Soldiers Beach Surf Lifesaving Club’s Nipper and Nipperette of the Year — awards sponsored by Wallarah Point to recognise the next generation of surf lifesavers.

“It’s wonderful to support our younger generation and give back to the community,” says Lola. “It’s a great reminder that caring for our environment isn’t just for the young — our older generation is proud to lead the way too.” 💚
