Meet my get-up-and-go coach: Izzy. 🐾
My kids thought I bought the dog for them (2 of them anyway, the third was not a fan.)
Truth? I bought her for me. ❤️
After my divorce and working from home, I knew I needed something — or someone — that would get me out of the house regularly.
And Izzy doesn’t believe in the snooze button.
She is relentless - 5:30am.
She knows there are consequences if we don’t get outside… even if “going outside” sometimes means walking approximately two feet so she can do her business. 😂
But here’s my motivation hack:
I don’t get up and go for a walk because I’m particularly motivated to do it for me.
💡 I get up because she needs me to.
And as someone who has always been pretty good at prioritising everyone else’s needs, this works.
Izzy is my little get-up-and-go coach. 🐶
Every morning — and sometimes several times a day — she gets me off the couch, out the door and into the sunshine.
And here’s the thing I’ve learned:
Consistency matters more than intensity when it comes to wellbeing.
You don’t need a perfect workout.
You don’t need the right outfit.
You don’t even need to feel motivated.
Sometimes … you just need a reason to get up and take the first step. ❤️
Today, we’re walking part of the Riverwalk in Brisbane.
It’s a little brisk, I’m not wearing my walking shoes, and I’m definitely not wearing my activewear. 😂
But we’re outside.
The sunshine is hitting my face.
My body is moving.
And those endorphins are coming.
Sometimes your wellbeing coach has four legs and a very persuasive bladder. 🐾❤️
Who — or what — is your get-up-and-go coach?
