"Crash mats are such versatile tools! They can be used as a heavy work opportunity, movement break or quiet space to support regulation and attention. They can also be used in the construction of a cubby house to promote problem solving. They can provide a gross motor challenge to an obstacle course. The list goes on! Plus, big crashes on the mat are ridiculously fun and are guaranteed to create moments of delight and joy" - Brenda

External Supervision | OTs & Allied Health Professionals

Clinical work can be complex. Having a space to step back, talk things through and reflect on your practice can make a real difference.

Our experienced paediatric OTs provide external supervision that is confidential, collaborative and tailored to you — whether you’re a sole practitioner or part of a larger team.

Supervision can support you to:

✓ Reflect on complex cases
✓ Build clinical confidence
✓ Develop practical strategies
✓ Strengthen professional judgement
✓ Deepen attachment and trauma-informed practice
✓ Look after your own wellbeing

Playsense provides a space to reflect, learn and grow, so you can continue providing thoughtful, compassionate and evidence-informed care.

We got cosy for National Pyjama Day! 💤👕

National Pyjama Day helps The Pyjama Foundation raise vital funds to support children living in foster care.

On 21 July, we joined in by wearing our PJs to work and invited our clients to get involved too. 🧸✨

Donations can make a real difference, from a brand new book, to providing educational resources, training Pyjama Angel mentors, or helping match a child with a mentor for a year of weekly visits filled with learning, connection and support.

If you’d still like to support The Pyjama Foundation , you can donate directly via the link in our bio. You can also head to their website if you would like to find out more info: https://fundraise.thepyjamafoundation.com/event/npd

Every contribution helps provide opportunities, resources and positive experiences for children in care. 💛

Packing with purpose 💙

Our PlaySense team recently came together to support Hope in a suitcase-Australia, a volunteer-run charity that provides suitcases filled with essential items for children entering foster care and out-of-home care.

We filled suitcases containing new clothing, toiletries, books, toys and comfort items, helping ensure children have practical essentials and something they can call their own.

It was a privilege to contribute to this initiative and support the incredible work of the volunteers at Hope in a Suitcase, who are dedicated to ensuring every child entering care has a suitcase of their own.

If you'd like to learn more about their work or ways to get involved, we encourage you to visit their website: https://www.hiasc.org.au/

Thank you to Hope in a Suitcase for all that you do for children and families across Australia. 💛

Emotional Health Series | Part 3

What if we focused a little more on the process, rather than the outcome?

As parents, we can support flexible self-esteem by noticing and celebrating the effort, persistence, curiosity and enjoyment our children experience along the way — rather than focusing only on how well they did.

Flexible self-esteem is about knowing that our worth doesn't change depending on whether we succeed or struggle.

Praising the process can also support intrinsic motivation, helping children find enjoyment in what they are doing, rather than feeling driven by an external goal or outcome.

It’s a small shift we can be mindful of as we support our children's emotional health. There’s no need to get it perfect — these are simply things we can notice and try along the way.

Watch Part 3 as our Director and Paediatric Occupational Therapist, Emma Allen, shares the third and final tip in our Emotional Health Series.

💙 Thank you for following along with our Emotional Health Series. We hope these tips have given you something to reflect on and try in your everyday moments with your children.

Emotional Health Series | Part 2

When our child is having a big feeling, can we meet them without an agenda?

If we come into the moment wanting to change, stop or fix the emotion, our child can pick up on that. This can make it harder for them to feel safe enough to process the feeling and move through it.

Co-regulation starts with being present, without an agenda.

You don't need to change who you are or get everything right. Instead, notice what might be showing up for you.

Was there an agenda? What was coming up for me?

Watch Part 2 as our Director and Paediatric Occupational Therapist, Emma Allen, shares the second tip in our Emotional Health Series.

Emotional Health Series | Part 1

Emotional regulation is a journey.

It's easy to focus on the behaviour we want to change, but what if we took a step back and looked at the bigger picture instead?

While we can't always control our child's emotions or behaviour, we can control how we respond. Those responses help shape our child's emotional health over time.

Watch Part 1 as our Director and Paediatric Occupational Therapist, Emma Allen, shares the first tip in our Emotional Health Series.

⭐️ A look back at our school holiday groups ⭐️

These photos capture just a few of the highlights from our Birthday Party, Construction and Pencil Pals groups! 🎉🏗️✏️ From party play and creative construction challenges to fun handwriting and fine motor activities, our children built confidence, friendships and new skills, all while having an amazing time.

Behind the scenes, our Play Pals, Little Chefs, Illustration, and Lego groups were just as much fun, with children developing pretend play, social skills, creativity, teamwork and confidence through engaging, play-based activities.

A huge thank you to all the wonderful families who joined us these holidays. We loved seeing so many smiling faces and can't wait to welcome everyone back for our next holiday program! 💛

Today we're taking part in National Pyjama Day to support The Pyjama Foundation and the incredible work they do for children in foster care.

Every child deserves someone who believes in them, encourages them, and helps them reach their full potential. The Pyjama Foundation's volunteer "Pyjama Angels" provide learning, life skills and emotional support to children living in foster care, helping them build brighter futures.

So if you see your therapist in their pyjamas today, you'll know why! 💤💛 We hope our comfy clothes help raise awareness for this wonderful cause.

If you'd like to support The Pyjama Foundation, you can donate here:
