That headache that keeps creeping back might have more going on behind it than you realise.

Neck tension, prolonged positions, stress and changes in how you move can all play a role in some types of headaches.

This is why understanding what tends to happen before, during and after your symptoms can be so useful.

Where you feel pain is not always the only piece of the puzzle, and looking at the bigger picture can help uncover patterns that are easy to overlook.

We asked Tom, Casey and Laura some very important questions. The answers did not disappoint. 👇

Who gives the strongest treatment. Who loves a chat the most. Who frustrates reception. Who loves their dog the most. And the big one, who is the funniest person in the clinic.

This is the Quay Osteo team in their natural habitat and we are not sorry about it.

Drop your guess in the comments before you watch. Who do you think loves a chat the most? 👇😄

14 months. Surgery, metal in the ankle, rehab, a second surgery to remove the hardware and the long mental game of learning to trust your body again. Today Laura got the all clear to do pretty much whatever she wants. Including getting back on the mountain bike. 🤍

What struck her most this morning was sitting in the orthopaedic surgeon’s waiting room and recognising herself in the people around her. The moon boots, the crutches, the conversations about managing kids and work and logistics while your body is not cooperating. That was her not all that long ago.

Recovery is rarely just physical. It is the second guessing, the not knowing how hard to push, the moments where the mental load feels heavier than the injury itself. Having the right guidance through all of it makes a difference that is hard to overstate.

Huge thank you to Tom for the rehab support every step of the way. Stay tuned because Tom is going to walk us through exactly what that looked like. 👇

Sometimes you do not realise you are in pain until someone else notices first. 👇

If someone in your life has been moving a little differently lately, holding their neck at a certain angle, favouring one side, or just seems more worn out than the weekend should have left them, it might not just be tiredness. Pain has a way of blending into the background when life is busy enough.

And if that someone is you, the team at Quay Osteo has got you.

Your osteopath has been injured too. Probably more than once. 👇

There is something worth knowing about the team at Quay Osteo. They are not just practitioners who understand injury from a textbook. They have lived it. Fractured hands and wrists, ongoing knee management, hip issues from years of dance, shingles, meningitis, appendix surgery and the long, humbling process of rebuilding fitness and capacity afterwards.

That kind of personal experience changes how you treat people. It builds a specific understanding of what it feels like to be told to slow down when every part of you wants to push, and what it actually takes to come back well rather than just fast.

The best advice they can offer someone returning from injury? Let your first session back feel like you have done something, not like you have done everything. Patience at the start protects months at the other end.

Sometimes your body is doing some of its most important recovery work while you’re asleep.

Sleeping - supports the processes your body uses to repair tissues, regulate stress and manage pain sensitivity.

When sleep is consistently poor, aches can feel harder to manage and recovery can feel like it is taking longer.

That’s why looking at sleep and recovery can be an important part of understanding persistent pain, especially when you’re already doing the right things during the day.

Your body needs time to recover, too.

If the idea of needles makes you nervous, you are not alone. Laura felt the same way for years. 👇

Dry needling is one of those treatments that tends to divide people before they try it, and convert them after. The reason it works so well is that it reaches the muscle in a way that hands, fingers and elbows simply cannot. Rather than applying external pressure to release tension from the surface, a micro filament needle addresses the muscle from within, creating a neurological response that resets the muscle fibre tension directly. The result is that immediate sense of looseness people describe the moment they stand up off the table.

It is not a replacement for hands-on treatment. It is an additional tool that allows the team to go deeper, faster, so that the mobility and soft tissue work that follows is even more effective.

Dry needling at Quay Osteo is used across the jaw, shoulders, knees, quads, ankles and wrists. If tight, stubborn muscles have been holding you back, it might be exactly what your body needs.

Most desk pain is not about how long you sit. It is about how you sit. And a few small changes can make a significant difference. 👇

Your chair is the foundation of everything. Armrests pull you away from the desk and encourage slouching. A forward-tilting seat base positions your knees below your hips, which puts a natural curve in your lower back without you having to think about it. That one change alone removes a huge amount of effortful holding through the spine.

From there it is about your screen height, your keyboard position and whether your dominant screen is centred in your midline. If you are spending hours with your chin dropped toward a laptop, your neck is loading with every minute that passes. A few reams of paper under the laptop and a separate keyboard costs almost nothing and changes everything.

And if you are one of those people typing notes while talking on the phone with the handset wedged between your ear and shoulder? Your neck would like a word.

Save this one, have a look at your setup and make the tweaks. Laura puts it best at the end of the reel: get it right and you might not need us so much. 😄

Graduating from osteopathy university is the beginning of the learning, not the end of it. 👇

What sets a great practitioner apart over time is the commitment to keep building. Dry needling, cupping, hydrotherapy, strength and conditioning, advanced TMJ and headache management. The team at Quay Osteo are constantly adding to what they can offer because every person who walks through the door responds differently, and the more ways they can treat, the better the outcomes.

That kind of ongoing professional development is not just good for the practitioners. It is directly good for you as a patient. It means the person treating you is not relying on a fixed toolkit from five years ago. It means they are bringing current, evolving knowledge into the room every single time.

And apparently it also occasionally involves costumes and trivia. Welcome to the team Gemma. 😄

Tying your shoelaces. That is all it took. And suddenly Jacqui was on her hands and knees crawling to the kitchen bench. 👇

This is the part of back pain that does not get talked about enough. It is not just the physical pain. It is the fear that comes with it. The frustration of being an active, healthy person and suddenly not being able to do the most ordinary things. The worry about what this means for the years ahead.

What most people do not realise is that you do not need a referral to see an osteopath. If something in your body is not right, we can be your first port of call. No waiting rooms, no referral letters, just a direct conversation with someone who can actually help.

If your back has been quietly worrying you, you do not have to wait for a crisis moment to reach out. We would much rather see you before the shoelace incident than after it.
