Pivot Point Osteopathy - Antigonish

Pivot Point Osteopathy - Antigonish Welcome to Pivot Point Osteopathy, located in Antigonish, NS. Reopening after nearly 5 years away wit As manual osteopaths, we treat all things body related.

Manual osteopathy finds the connections between your symptomatic and pain presentation through a detailed personal history of accidents, injuries, and surgeries to determine the root cause of your pain and mobility issues. To support your treatments, we develop a treatment plan, and recommend exercises and small changes to your routine to support the success of your treatments.

Tiny bodies experience big changes.

Birth is an incredible process that requires significant adaptation from a newborn.

Osteopathic care for infants uses very gentle techniques and may support babies experiencing concerns such as:

• Feeding challenges
• Head preference
• Tension patterns
• Difficulty settling

Every baby is unique, and treatment is always adapted to their needs.

Headaches can have many contributing factors.

Tension in the neck, jaw, shoulders, breathing patterns, stress, previous injuries, and posture can all influence how your body feels.

Osteopathic treatment may help address areas of restriction and tension that could be contributing to discomfort.

Common areas we assess include:

• Neck mobility
• Jaw (TMJ) function
• Upper back and shoulders
• Breathing mechanics

Your headache may be the symptom — but your whole body tells the story.

Your pain is not always where the problem begins.

The body is connected through muscles, fascia, joints, nerves, and fluid systems.

For example:

• A stiff ankle may affect your knee, hip, or neck
• Old injuries can change movement patterns
• Jaw tension can influence the neck and headaches
• Scar tissue can affect mobility years later

Osteopathy looks at these connections to understand why your body may be struggling.

Sometimes the place that hurts is simply where your body is asking for attention

What exactly is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a hands-on approach to healthcare that focuses on how the body’s systems work together.

Rather than only focusing on where you feel pain, osteopaths look at the bigger picture — movement, posture, injuries, stress, breathing patterns, circulation, and how your body has adapted over time.

The goal is to support your body’s ability to find balance and improve function.

Every person is different, which means every treatment is different.

Plantar fasciitis is often more than just inflammation of the plantar fascia. In many cases, it results from a loss of normal glide between the heel bone and the surrounding structures, changing how forces are transmitted through the foot.

The foot is an incredible piece of engineering—it's the foundation of the body. Much like the vaulted ceiling of a cathedral, its arches are designed to provide remarkable strength while distributing weight efficiently. At the same time, the foot is a sophisticated sensory organ, constantly gathering information about the ground beneath us before each step.

With so many responsibilities, every bone in the foot depends on its neighbours to move and function well. When one area loses mobility, the rest of the foot compensates, often leading to pain and altered movement patterns.

For this reason, treating foot pain requires looking at the whole foot rather than focusing only on the painful spot. It's also important to assess the rest of the body. For example, restrictions in the neck can shift posture and move your centre of gravity forward, increasing the load through the feet and contributing to ongoing symptoms.

An osteopathic approach aims to restore normal motion throughout the foot and address the body-wide factors that may be contributing to the problem, helping the foot function as it was designed to.
