Losing a pet can be heartbreaking.
They become part of our routines, our families and our sense of home. They are there for ordinary mornings, difficult days and whole chapters of our lives. When they die, the space they leave behind can feel enormous.
Pet loss is sometimes minimized because the person we are grieving was “just a pet.” But the relationship was real, and so is the grief.
There is no correct timeline for feeling better. Be gentle with yourself, make room for the memories and talk about your pet with people who understand what they meant to you.
If the loss feels difficult to carry alone, some of our therapists offer counselling for pet loss and grief. You’re welcome to contact us or book a free consultation to find someone who may be a good fit.
