Calgary Core Physiotherapy

Calgary Core Physiotherapy Calgary Core Physiotherapy provides physiotherapy, acupuncture, sports and post-operative rehabilitation, and injury treatment services in downtown Calgary

At Calgary Core Physiotherapy, we have created a clinic where clients can see what a difference it makes in their injury recovery when you combine the skills to heal and the spirit to care. Our desire is to make a positive impact on our downtown community, all 4 quadrants of Calgary, and beyond. Yes, this is a large area to consider, but our clientele has come from as far away as BC, Saskatchewan

and the Northwest Territories! Our clinic is easily accessible for both downtown workers as well as those who live in the outskirts of the city. Our vision is to bring together an amazing group of physiotherapists who are highly-skilled, respected in the medical community, and who know how to really care and have compassion for their patients. We also are always extremely grateful and fortunate to have a top-notch administrative staff to help our clients with all the non-clinical support. Our mission is to provide superior physiotherapy services with the utmost competency, integrity, and personalized care. We want to exceed our clients’ expectations and help them achieve optimal, pain-free living. Simply put, our focus is always the client and their health.

🌟Welcome to the Calgary Core Physio Team, Karina Bennett🌟

BScPT

➡️What is your treatment philosophy?

I believe physiotherapy should help people understand their bodies and feel confident moving again. I like to look at the bigger picture – assessing how someone moves, identifying contributing factors such as strength, mobility or movement imbalances, and then creating a plan to address them. I combine hands-on treatment with education and gradual, progressive loading, focusing on the small things that can help the bigger movements work well. Ultimately, I want people to feel confident managing their own recovery and getting back to the things they
enjoy.

➡️What am I interested in outside of work?

Outside of work, I love being outdoors and exploring new places. I enjoy travelling, bikepacking, trail running, mountain biking and surfing – and I’m excited to give river surfing a go while I’m in Calgary! I also love visiting family and friends back home, going to concerts, exploring local breweries and finding a good flat white and almond croissant. When I’m taking it a little easier, you’ll usually find me attempting to knit, reading, doing yoga or planning my next adventure.

➡️What are your areas of expertise and interest?

My clinical interests include shoulder, low back and hip conditions, running-related injuries and strength training, particularly for women. Having experienced stress fractures myself, I also have a personal interest in bone health and the rehabilitation of running and other endurance-related injuries. I have completed a Certificate of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy Shoulder Course in New Zealand and enjoy continuing to develop my skills while gaining experience across a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions.

Jacalyn Moore (MScPT, RISPT, CAT(C), ACC, CSCS, FCAMPT)

🌟What’s your treatment philosophy?

My approach starts with active listening. I believe patients often have the answers—they know their bodies better than anyone. It’s my job to listen carefully to what they’re feeling and what their body is telling me, then use that information to guide effective, individualized treatment.

🌟What are you interested in outside of work?
Outside of work, I love anything that challenges me physically or mentally and teaches me something new. You’ll often find me hiking, biking, running, working out, painting, renovating my house, practicing my French—or out on the field playing soccer with my team, the Hungry Hippos!

🌟What are your areas of expertise and interest?
I specialize in complex injuries involving multiple systems, and I’m especially passionate about helping patients who feel like they’ve exhausted other options. I often work with individuals who haven’t found success with previous treatments and are ready to dig deeper. My goal is always to support those who are truly committed to getting better.

🌟How do you take care of your body/prevent injuries/etc.?
I’m proud to say I’m the oldest player on my soccer team—and still one of the fastest! Staying healthy and injury-free is no accident. I prioritize the fundamentals: staying current with the latest health and performance research, eating clean, getting 8+ hours of sleep each night, and surrounding myself with a strong support network. I also make time for regular check-ins with a mental health professional and keep my alcohol consumption low—did you know the latest Canadian guidelines recommend no more than 2 drinks per week? Taking care of your body means taking care of your whole self: physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Another weekend spent learning and growing 📚💪

Our physios recently completed an in-depth shoulder course focused on scapular treatment strategies, exercise techniques for shoulder instability, and improving glenohumeral stability.

We explored research and clinical approaches from Lyn Watson, including the positive outcomes seen with scapular setting using resistance bands to help support shoulder stability.

The course also covered practical taping techniques, hands-on manual therapy skills, and evidence-informed treatment approaches that we’re excited to bring back to the clinic for our patients.

Always learning. Always improving. Always striving to provide the best care possible ✨

🌟What’s your treatment philosophy? Over his many years of clinical practice, Tim has found that getting the most accurate diagnosis of an injury is vital for treatment success. 🌟What are your areas of expertise and interest? Although Tim started his career focusing on sports injuries and traveling with various sports teams, he has developed his skills and interests towards neck and back conditions.

🌟How do you take care of your body/prevent injuries/ etc.? In order to keep working in a physical job such as physiotherapy, Tim finds it necessary to get to the gym 2 to 3 times a week to maintain strength and stability.
