Ultrasound for Physiotherapy? That's right! It is more than a tool for imaging. High-frequency sound waves have a therapeutic effect through microvibrations that generate heat, increasing blood flow, oxygen, and chemicals essential to healing. It can also help new tissue fibres align properly, rather than becoming unorganized and tight/weak. Some common injuries ultrasound is used for include sprains, strains, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, mastitis, bursitis and scar tissue adhesions. Your physiotherapist will determine whether this is a helpful component of your treatment plan!

If you are experiencing these symptoms, our physiotherapist, Marissa Hutton, offers TMD assessments.

Recovering from an injury involves much more than physiotherapy alone. While your rehab exercises and treatment are essential, other lifestyle factors play a major role in how well and how quickly you recover. 🥦🧘🏻‍♀️😌💤
Getting 7–9 hours of sleep, eating a nutritious diet, limiting alcohol and drug use, and addressing mental health factors like stress, motivation, and your beliefs about recovery can all influence the healing process. By supporting your body both inside and outside the clinic, you'll give yourself the best chance for a successful recovery.

✨ Meet Meagan, Our Newest Physiotherapist!✨

We're excited to welcome Meagan to the team!

A UBC-trained physiotherapist and competitive Olympic weightlifter, Meagan has a special interest in pelvic health, supporting athletes with pelvic dysfunction, postpartum return to exercise, chronic pain, and hypermobility.

Her goal is to help clients feel stronger, more confident, and more connected to their bodies through individualized, evidence-based care in a supportive and welcoming environment.

When she's not in the clinic, you'll find her training at the gym, cycling, café hopping, spending time with her dog Kairo, or working on her latest art project.

Help us give Meagan a warm welcome! 💙

Osteoporosis, a progressive disease causing bones to become brittle and porous, is very common in post-menopausal women. What many don’t know is that weightlifting can significantly reduce the risk of osteoporotic fractures. Weightlifting puts stress on your bones, which signals bone-building cells to increase density. Exercise, along with dietary and medical treatments, can help prevent or manage osteoporosis. Strong muscles = strong bones! 🦴

Isometrics are often used in early-stage rehab for muscle activation and stability. Once you are strong in those, it is common to progress to slow isotonic loading to build tissue tolerance, and then to dynamic or sport-specific exercise! 🏋️‍♂️
