🍂🧡 Happy Thanksgiving from Beginnings Family Services

This Thanksgiving, we’re feeling especially grateful for the families and individuals who have been part of the adoption journey with us. Every story is unique, and each one reminds us of the hope, courage, and love that can bring families together.

We’re especially thankful for birth parents and the love, strength, and care they bring to their decisions and their children’s lives.

We’re also thinking of waiting families who are hoping and preparing for the day their family grows. We know that waiting can hold a lot of emotions, and we’re grateful to walk alongside you.

From all of us at Beginnings, wishing you a Thanksgiving filled with family, connection, and moments to be grateful for. 🧡🍂

🌍💚 World Mental Health Day

Today, we recognize the importance of mental health and the need for compassionate, accessible support for everyone.

Within the adoption constellation, birth parents, adoptive parents, adoptees, and others may experience a range of emotions throughout their journeys. Grief, loss, identity, change, and uncertainty can all impact emotional well-being.

At Beginnings, we believe seeking support is a sign of strength. No one should have to navigate difficult emotions or experiences alone. 💚

Today is a reminder to check in with yourself, reach out to someone you trust, and remember that support is available when you need it. 🌱

To our waiting families,

Waiting to adopt can hold a lot of hope, but it can also hold uncertainty, disappointment, and questions you don’t always know how to answer. There is no need to make the waiting look easy.

We’re here when you need us. 💛

💙 Come walk with us, remember with us, and honour two very special members of the Beginnings community. 💙

Leida and Gerald Dykstra, former Beginnings foster parents, gave so much love, care, and support to children and families. We’re honoured to walk together in their memory and celebrate the lasting impact they had on so many.

We’d love to see you there! 👟💙

🧡 Orange Shirt Day

As we reflect on Truth and Reconciliation, Orange Shirt Day gives us another opportunity to remember the children whose lives were profoundly impacted by residential schools, to honour Survivors, and to recognize the importance of ensuring that every child knows they matter.

At Beginnings, we believe that this work is not separate from the way we support children and families. It is part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring that children are supported in knowing who they are, where they come from, and the communities and cultures to which they belong.

For Indigenous children, maintaining connections to family, community, culture, language, and identity is an important part of belonging. It is a responsibility we approach with care, respect, and a commitment to continued learning.

Today, we wear orange as a reminder that every child deserves to be seen, heard, valued, and surrounded by connections that honour their identity.

We remember. We listen. We learn. And we continue the work of reconciliation.

Every Child Matters. 🧡

🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Today, we honour Survivors of residential schools, their families, and communities, while recognizing the lasting impacts of these experiences and the importance of continuing the work of reconciliation.

At Beginnings, we recognize that reconciliation requires ongoing listening, learning, reflection, and meaningful action.

When supporting Indigenous children and families, we are committed to culturally respectful and safe practices. For children with Indigenous heritage, we work with the child’s Band and seek families who have the willingness, capacity, and connections to nurture and maintain the child’s Indigenous identity, culture, and relationships.

Every child deserves to know where they come from, to have their identity honoured, and to maintain meaningful connections to their culture and community. 🧡

Today and every day, we remain committed to learning and contributing to a future rooted in truth, respect, healing, and hope.

Every Child Matters. 🧡
