Why I became a sleep consultant...

My first was one of those unicorn babies who slept through the night and I thought why would anyone sleep train a baby when they sleep like this? Then came my second, who left me 17 coffees deep just about every day trying to survive off 45 minutes of sleep. I couldn’t balance playing with my toddler and interacting with my baby when I constantly felt like πŸ’©.

I knew I needed to find a new way. I paid way too much money on a plan with someone that I was hopeful would work. Turns out it did not at all and this may be due to the fact that sleep consultants is not a regulated term (meaning my 4 year old can do it technically). I took training by a psychologist to make sure I could give our family something that worked for us and gave us all a goods nights sleep!

As a Registered Psychotherapist I take pride in being a regulated professional who has helped hundreds of families become better rested 😴

Separation anxiety and sleep often go hand in hand. 🀍

If your little one suddenly starts fighting bedtime, waking more often, or needing extra comfort, you're not doing anything wrong.

Separation anxiety is a completely normal developmental stage that typically begins around 6–12 months (and can pop up again later, too). As your baby's awareness grows, so does their understanding that you're separate from them. Which can make bedtime feel a little harder.

A few things that can help:
- Keep your bedtime routine predictable.
- Respond with calm, consistent reassurance.
- Practice short separations during the day to build confidence.
- Remember that this phase won't last forever.

Supporting your baby's emotions and encouraging healthy sleep can go hand in hand. Consistency, patience, and connection make all the difference. πŸ’›

Have you noticed separation anxiety affecting your little one's sleep?
