A family from Carman, Manitoba found a meaningful way to give back to the NICU at St. Boniface Hospital. 💛
 
They set up a lemonade stand, selling lemonade and baked goods, and even pizza for golfers during the men’s league at their local golf course. With the money they raised, the family purchased blankets and clothing for NICU babies. They also made a generous donation to support the care of St. B’s tiniest patients.
 
Thank you to this thoughtful family for bringing comfort and care to babies in the NICU. 🍋

More than 120 golfers came together at Niakwa Country Club on August 10 for the 2026 National Bank Cardiac Classic, raising a record-breaking $157,000 in support of cardiac care and research at St. Boniface Hospital. ❤️⛳️

Now in its 14th year, the tournament has raised more than $1.2 million for cardiac care and research at St. B. This year’s funds will help improve access to care at Manitoba’s Cardiac Centre of Excellence and support Manitoba’s first coronary reactivity testing program.

The day also featured a special visit from Manitoba pro golfer Braxton K***z, who took over tee shots for golfers who made a donation, as well as an exclusive Harry Styles auction package for two to see him perform in New York City.

We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr. Shelley Zieroth as the Heart & Stroke, St. Boniface Hospital Foundation, and Research Manitoba Chair in Women’s Clinical Heart Health Research. 🥳🎉

Dr. Zieroth joined the Section of Cardiology at St. Boniface Hospital in 2006 as Director of Heart Function Clinics. Today, she is a Clinician-Scientist and Professor in the College of Medicine, Max Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, with a cross-appointment in the Department of Pathology and Pathophysiology at the University of Manitoba. After earning her medical degree and completing specialty training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the University of Manitoba, Dr. Zieroth completed a postdoctoral clinical fellowship in Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation at Toronto General Hospital.💙

Heart disease remains one of the leading causes of death among women, yet women have historically been underrepresented in cardiovascular research. To help address this issue, the Chair will provide leadership in developing a Women’s Heart Care program in Manitoba, advancing research, promoting the integration of best practices into clinical care, and fostering collaboration with researchers across Canada and around the world.
