Physiotherapy Lecturer, Emma, attended the Access To (S6) graduation and showcase last night alongside colleagues from the School of Health. For the last seven weeks, we have delivered a series of workshops to S6 pupils from Aberdeen & Shire who are interested in studying healthcare. The programme supported pupils' knowledge of each profession (Physio, OT, Diagnostic Radiography, Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedic Practice) and allowed them to experience teaching on campus, in our dedicated learning environments. We enjoyed seeing the pupils and their families at the graduation and showcase event, rounding off this year's S6 programme! 🎓✨

For many people, their first experience of physiotherapy is through sports or a musculoskeletal clinic - and yes, massage can absolutely be an important part of physiotherapy treatment and rehabilitation. But there's so much more to the profession!

Physiotherapy is a broad and varied career, with opportunities to work with people of all ages, from newborns and children in paediatrics through to adults and older people. Physios support people experiencing musculoskeletal, neurological and cardiorespiratory conditions, as well as working in specialist areas such as pelvic health, mental health, learning disabilities, rheumatology, complex pain, weight management, research and academia!

And physiotherapists don't just work in clinics. You'll find them in hospitals, schools and community settings.

Our courses give students the opportunity to develop their knowledge and gain practical experiences across a wide range of areas - helping you discover many different careers paths physiotherapy has to offer.

Sunny weather calls for outdoor mobility!

Yesterday our Stage 3 MPhys students practiced submaximal testing and outcome measures. To make the most of the lovely weather, they set up and completed the six minute walk test outside on our beautiful campus ☀️

We were delighted to welcome VALD Performance staff, Kevin Symon and Brianna Mulhern, last week to deliver an engaging session with our Stage 2 MSc Physiotherapy students in strength assessment and clinical decision making.

The session included demonstrations and hands-on application of strength testing technologies, alongside interpretation and presentation of the data. Our students also had the opportunity to explore their own strength performance, putting the technology and learning into practice.

An informative, insightful and highly engaging session - thanks to Kevin and Brianna for sharing your expertise with our students! 📊💪🏻
