🌈 Autistic Pride Day – 18 June 🌈

Today we celebrate Autistic Pride Day, a day led by and for autistic people that recognises autism as a natural part of human diversity.

Autistic Pride Day is about promoting understanding, acceptance and inclusion, while celebrating the strengths, talents, perspectives and contributions of autistic people in our communities.

At Bridge View Medical, we recognise that every person experiences the world differently. We are committed to providing accessible, person-centred care and creating an environment where autistic patients feel respected, understood and supported.

πŸ’œ Autism is not something to be "fixed" – it is a different way of experiencing and interacting with the world.
πŸ’œ Every autistic person is unique, with their own strengths, challenges and needs.
πŸ’œ Acceptance, understanding and reasonable adjustments can make a huge difference.

Let's celebrate neurodiversity and work together to create a more inclusive society where everyone can thrive.

πŸ’œ Learning Disability Week πŸ’œ

This Learning Disability Week, we are supporting the message "Do You See Me?" – a reminder that people with learning disabilities should be seen, heard, valued and included in all aspects of life.

Around 1.5 million people in the UK have a learning disability. While many lead full and active lives, they can still face barriers to accessing healthcare, education, employment and community activities.

At Bridge View Medical, we are committed to providing accessible, compassionate and inclusive care for all our patients. We encourage anyone who has a learning disability, or cares for someone who does, to let us know about any support needs they may have so we can help make accessing our services easier.

πŸ’œ Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
πŸ’œ Everyone deserves to be listened to.
πŸ’œ Everyone deserves equal access to healthcare.

Together, let's build a community where everyone feels seen, valued and included.

🩸 World Blood Donor Day 🩸

Today we recognise and thank the incredible people who donate blood and help save lives every single day. ❀️

Just one blood donation can help multiple patients, including people receiving cancer treatment, those undergoing surgery, people with long-term medical conditions and patients needing emergency care.

Blood stocks are always needed, and donors make an enormous difference to the NHS and local communities.

🩸 Giving blood is:
βœ… Quick and safe
βœ… Potentially life-saving
βœ… One simple act that can help many people

If you are able to donate, please consider registering as a blood donor. Your donation could save someone’s life.

πŸ‘ A huge thank you to everyone who already donates blood β€” your kindness and generosity are truly appreciated.

πŸ’™ Diabetes Week πŸ’™

This Diabetes Week, we are helping raise awareness of diabetes and supporting everyone living with the condition.

Diabetes affects millions of people in the UK and can have a significant impact on everyday life. Whether you live with Type 1, Type 2 or gestational diabetes, good support, regular monitoring and healthy lifestyle choices can make a real difference.

Knowing the signs and symptoms is important. These can include:
πŸ’§ Feeling very thirsty
🚽 Needing to wee more often
😴 Feeling tired
βš–οΈ Unexplained weight loss
πŸ‘οΈ Blurred vision

Regular health checks and diabetes reviews are important to help reduce the risk of complications and support long-term health.

At Bridge View Medical, we are here to support our patients with diabetes and help people access the advice, care and monitoring they need.

πŸ’™ Small steps can make a big difference to your health and wellbeing.

πŸ’™ Men’s Health Week πŸ’™

This Men’s Health Week, we’re encouraging men of all ages to take a moment to think about their physical and mental wellbeing.

Many health conditions are more treatable when spotted early, but men are often less likely to seek help or talk about their health concerns. Looking after your health is important β€” and reaching out for support is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Here are a few simple ways to look after your health:
βœ… Attend routine health checks and appointments
βœ… Stay active and eat well
βœ… Look after your mental wellbeing
βœ… Get enough sleep
βœ… Talk to someone if you’re struggling
βœ… Don’t ignore ongoing symptoms or changes in your health

At Bridge View Medical, we are here to support all aspects of your health and wellbeing.

πŸ’¬ This week is a reminder that it’s okay to ask for help and to prioritise your health.

πŸ’™ Carers Week πŸ’™

This Carers Week, we want to recognise and thank the millions of unpaid carers who support family members, friends and loved ones every day.

Caring for someone can be rewarding, but it can also be physically and emotionally demanding. Many carers balance their caring responsibilities alongside work, family life and their own health needs.

At Bridge View Medical, we want carers to know that their wellbeing matters too. πŸ’™

If you are a carer:
βœ… Make sure you are registered with the practice as a carer
βœ… Reach out for support if you are struggling
βœ… Remember to look after your own physical and mental health

Sometimes carers do not recognise themselves as carers β€” but if you regularly help someone who could not manage without your support, you may be one.

πŸ‘ Thank you to all carers for the compassion, dedication and support you provide every single day.

🌍 World Environment Day 🌍

Today we are celebrating World Environment Day β€” a reminder that even small changes can make a big difference to the health of our planet and our communities. πŸ’š

Looking after the environment also helps protect our health and wellbeing. Cleaner air, greener spaces, active travel and reducing waste all contribute to healthier lives.

Here are a few simple ways we can all help:
♻️ Recycle where possible
🚢 Walk or cycle for short journeys
πŸ’§ Reduce water waste
🌳 Spend time in green spaces
πŸ›οΈ Reuse bags, bottles and containers

At Bridge View Medical, we recognise the important link between a healthy planet and healthy people.

Together, we can all play a part in creating a greener, healthier future πŸŒŽπŸ’™

πŸ’™ SANDS Awareness Month πŸ’™

This month we are helping raise awareness of pregnancy loss and baby loss in support of SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity).

The loss of a baby can affect families in many different ways, and for many people the impact can last a lifetime. SANDS Awareness Month is an opportunity to remember babies who have died, support bereaved families and help break the silence around baby loss.

At Bridge View Medical, we recognise how important compassionate support and understanding can be during difficult times. If you or someone you know has been affected by pregnancy or baby loss, please know that support is available and you are not alone.

🀍 Be kind
🀍 Listen without judgement
🀍 Remember every baby matters

For support and more information visit the SANDS website:
