Whilst we work in the Information Pod and around the hospital we may at times be using service mobile phones or tablets in order to access social media platforms, contact colleagues or show patients important information.

This is all part of how we work as a hospital, introducing digital ways of working for even better patient care.

CUH Cancer Support Service has been awarded the Carers Tick health by Caring Together Charity

The award given by Caring Together is in recognition of our work to identify and support unpaid carers - people that look after a family member or friend.

You may not think you are a carer - A carer is anyone who cares, unpaid, for a friend or family member who due to illness, a mental health condition or an addiction cannot cope without their support.

If you would like to discuss the carers role, and support that is available please have a conversation with us today.

We are grateful to our patients for their feedback, of how the service provided has helped them.

We also receive feedback based on the signposting and referrals we make, which we like to share with patients.

Travel Insurance (trial patients) - Should you be involved in a clinical trial and want to travel. Please speak to your trials nurse, who may be able to help you with any insurance enquiries.

Money Saving Tips - When planning trips out or visiting attractions the destination you are interested in may be able to give a reduced rate entry as a carer or disabled badge holder (terms can vary)

When organising your finances do mention to your providers that you have had a cancer diagnosis. We have been told that companies have offered support or reductions for this reason.

A Sophie's Stars Smiles box is a small box of gorgeous treats that can be gifted to a family member or loved one of anyone who has a cancer diagnosis. They are a way of saying thank you, and acknowledging that cancer affects everyone, even if you don’t have cancer.

Who is it for?

-If you have cancer and have someone amazing in your life that has really helped you, it’s for them.

-If you know someone close to you with cancer, but don’t have cancer yourself, it’s for you.

-If you know someone who supports someone close to them with cancer, its for them.

Boxes can be ordered via email or by messaging Sophie’s Stars on their social media channels.
