We are working in collaboration with Your SimPal charity to provide a practical, non means tested financial support item to assist our patients whilst they deal with their cancer diagnosis. We are the first NHS project of this nature.

The sim cards offered with our partners at Simpal will give 6 months of texts, calls and data which will help tackle digital poverty and assist financially at a difficult time. Once that period is over the user will have the opportunity to access a low cost social tariff with the mobile phone provider to offer long term assistance.

This will help patients with their finances, mean patients can keep in touch with their medical team and friends & family and may also help patients carry on working in some capacity.

(Please note this will assist patients who have a pay as you go phone, not those in a contract)

Have a conversation with the service today for further information and support.

Whilst we work in the Information Pod and around the hospital we may at times be using service mobile phones or tablets in order to access social media platforms, contact colleagues or show patients important information.

This is all part of how we work as a hospital, introducing digital ways of working for even better patient care.

CUH Cancer Support Service has been awarded the Carers Tick health by Caring Together Charity

The award given by Caring Together is in recognition of our work to identify and support unpaid carers - people that look after a family member or friend.

You may not think you are a carer - A carer is anyone who cares, unpaid, for a friend or family member who due to illness, a mental health condition or an addiction cannot cope without their support.

If you would like to discuss the carers role, and support that is available please have a conversation with us today.
