Yesterday we closed the business, put our out-of-offices on, and spent the day together at Port Lympne for our summer away day 🌞
The morning was focused on refreshing the important fundamentals –
our clinicians refreshed their Basic Life Support and anaphylaxis training, while the rest of the team got up to speed on GDPR.
Then in the afternoon things got a bit more… hands-on!
We split into teams and built enrichment feeders for the giraffes – using power tools, clamps, saws and a set of instructions that required a fair bit of teamwork (and a bit of courage for those who’d never picked up a drill before). 🪚 🔩 🪛 🗜️
What made it really special wasn’t just the activity itself, but the purpose behind it.
These feeders are used to encourage natural behaviours – helping giraffes use their long, flexible tongues in a way that mirrors how they feed in the wild. 🦒
Afterwards, we went on a private safari and got to see the giraffes using the feeders straight away. Watching something you’ve just made being put to use like that is a pretty great feeling! We're told they'll be used for years to come too, so keep an eye out next time you visit the giraffes at Port Lympne!
A few thank yous:
🔸 To Andrew Phillips for brilliant OH-specific GDPR training. Having someone who understands occupational health as well as data protection makes a real difference.
🔸 To James McCarthy at UK Safety Services for excellent BLS training – as great as ever.
🔸 To the team at Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve for such a well-run day.
🔸 To Mark and Chris at Team Building with BITE for a fun and comfort-zone stretching activity.
🔸 And a huge thank you to our Business Support Specialist, Charlie, for pulling the whole thing together behind the scenes.
Most importantly, thank you to our team – for showing up, getting stuck in, and making All Health Matters what it is. We’re lucky to work with a group of people who care as much as they do!
