Why did our Funeral Operatives choose Wales Air Ambulance Charity?

The team knows first-hand the difference the charity can make. Our colleague Angela received their care after suffering an aneurysm and it's an experience that stayed with us πŸ’›

With so many people heading outdoors over the summer, it's also a timely reminder that Wales Air Ambulance is there whenever the unexpected happens, whether that's on the mountains, the roads or at home.

That's why Marc, Brad, Kayleigh, Alan, Darren and Leah will be lacing up their walking boots and packing the sunscreen - raising funds for the charity 🚁🏴󠁧󠁒󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Recently we had the privilege of arranging the funeral of Gaynor Edwards.

Pink, glitter and glam featured throughout the day. A fitting tribute to someone whose family and friends describe her as a bubbly lady who loved a good party.

Thank you to Gaynor's family for allowing us to share such memorable images from the day 🩷

For decades, people have written letters to Samaritans when they needed somebody to listen.

Next month, that letter service will come to an end as the charity focuses its efforts on supporting people through its 24-hour telephone service and other channels.

Although the way people get in touch has changed over the years, the need for support has not.

Bereavement can affect people differently and there may be times when speaking to somebody outside of your family or friendship circle can help.

If you, or someone you know, is struggling, Samaritans are available 24 hours a day on 116 123 ☎️

Recently, Neil McGuinness led his first funeral at Memoria Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan Memorial Park & Crematorium.

Reaching that point comes after months of learning alongside experienced colleagues, watching how they care for families, manage every detail and support one another behind the scenes.

"It was reassuring to know I had such an experienced team around me. They gave me the confidence to focus on the family, knowing the team were there if I needed them".

Twenty years of Coles has seen more than the business grow. It has seen knowledge, experience and support passed from one generation of funeral directors to the next.

Thank you to the family for placing their trust in Neil as he reached this important milestone.

Well done Neil πŸ’›

If you've passed our Llandaff funeral home recently, you may have noticed a row of sunflowers beginning to bloom 🌻

Planted by Pippa Mundy through Sow the Sun, alongside the The Jacob Abraham Foundation, they honour those affected by su***de while bringing colour into the heart of our community.

Our team will be watering the planters each morning and evening during the week. At weekends, we'll leave a watering can by our back door. If you're passing, the soil looks dry and it's safe to do so, we'd be grateful if you could help keep them growing.

Please return the watering can afterwards for the next person.

If you're a keen gardener, we'd love to hear your sunflower secrets. Comments below πŸ‘‡

We'll be sharing more about Sow the Sun over the coming weeks. In the meantime, enjoy the flowers and the sunshine β˜€οΈ

A lot can happen in 20 years.

Some of the faces in these photographs helped shape the early days of Coles, others weren't old enough to drive.

The uniforms have changed. And thankfully some of the haircuts too.

But what hasn't changed is our commitment to supporting families across Cardiff and South Wales.

Can you spot some of the team twenty years younger? πŸ“Έ

Thank you Hannah for sharing these kind words.

It was a privilege to support your family and help arrange such a fitting tribute to your Dad. We are grateful for the trust you placed in us throughout πŸ’›

We've turned 20 πŸŽ‚

And over the next six months we'll be marking the occasion with a series of charity challenges led by each of the departments in our business.

Because Coles has never been about the buildings, the uniforms or the limousines. It's the people you meet. The ones who take the first call, make the arrangements, support families on the day and provide care afterwards.

First up, is Marc and our Funeral Operatives, who have chosen Wales Air Ambulance Charity 🚁

The charity provides critical care across Wales and is there when people need urgent specialist treatment, often in the most challenging of circumstances.

We'll be swapping brogues for boots and climbing Pen y Fan to raise Β£500.

Last year, together with the support of our community, we raised more than Β£90,000 for charities and local causes. In our twentieth year, every department will be raising funds for a charity close to their hearts.

Direct cremation has received a great deal of attention recently, following industry discussions around advertising, pricing and helping families understand exactly what is included.

What matters most is understanding the options available and having clear information before making a decision.

We are an independent funeral director, taking the time to explain what's included, answer questions and help families choose an arrangement that feels right for them.

Our Essentially Coles direct cremation service combines the simplicity many people are looking for with the support of a local funeral director who knows the community they serve.

Food has a way of bringing us together doesn't it?

Last weekend, thousands of people visited the Cardiff Food & Drink Festival to enjoy good company and some of their favourite cuisines.

When arranging a funeral, those same familiar things often become part of the conversation.

A memorable Sunday roast. A family cake recipe. Fish and chips on holiday.

A Celebration of Life gives loved ones the freedom to include those personal touches and create an occasion that feels right for them.
