A big thank you to our kitchen staff who prepared a delicious 'picnic' lunch for our residents today, and to the care staff who co-ordinated getting our residents outside for a patio 'picnic'!

Today we celebrate our lovely Joan's 106th Birthday! 🎂🥂🍾

Joan has lived through many key events in the last 106 years, such as the Second World War, where she was an Aeroplane Spotter in London doing night shifts, as well as seeing England win the World Cup in 1966, the Apollo 11 Moon Landing, the Fall of the Berlin Wall, the creation of mobile phones and the internet, and living through the global Covid19 Pandemic. Joan has also seen five different monarchs in the last 106 years, which is just incredible!
Joan is not sure exactly what her secret is of reaching 106, other than being fiercely determined, always eating well, and the occasional glass of Guinness (which she has drank this morning before 11am!).
However, a little known fact about Joan is that she was told shortly after the birth of her daughter (when in her twenties), that her kidneys only had ten good years left, which clearly those doctors got very wrong!!!
Congratulations on your milestone birthday Joan, you are an inspiration to us all!!! 🩷🩷🩷

What a lovely experience a few of our residents got to enjoy today!
Our Manager, Talisa, took three of our residents to the Chichester Cathedral Festival of Flowers, to look at the beautiful installations and arrangements.
The weather on the way there was the only downside, at one point nearly taking our umbrellas ☔️ but we did see a Peregrine Falcon flying overhead on the way out of the Cathedral, which was a real unexpected treat to end a wonderful trip out! 🌹🪻🌺🌸🌼

It's Care Home Open Week from Monday 15th June to Sunday 21st June, and in honour of this, we will be hosting an Open Day on Monday 15th of June!

In a lovely shaded area of the Patio so that residents and staff could keep cool, some of our residents undertook a Gardening Activity, planting Tomato and Strawberry Plants ready for summer! Thank you to Sue and Jaime for assisting them with this! 🌻🌼🪴🌸

Today we held a lovely 'Grease' themed lunch for the residents, followed by a watch of the film in the afternoon, along with Oreo-cookie Milkshakes! 🍨
There was lots of laughter, singing and smiles, and a big thank you to Shelley, Juanita & Peta for the decorations and lovely lunch provided!
