A poignant message on World Mental Health Day 🧡

This quote beautifully captures something we witness every day in hospice care: while grief is deeply personal, it is never something you have to carry alone.

The loss of a loved one can have a profound impact on mental health, and at St Helena Hospice, we truly recognise the importance of having a safe space to share experiences, remember loved ones and connect with others who really understand.

Our Community Bereavement Cafés offer a welcoming space to meet those who have also experienced loss, share memories, talk openly and simply spend time with people who get it. Our Memory Tree is a beautifully hand carved oak trunk adorned with bronze, silver and gold leaves, each dedicated in memory of a loved one 🍂

Claire purchased a leaf to honour her husband, Bradley, and visited the Hospice with friends on his birthday to see it go up on the tree:

"The Hospice was a lifeline to Bradley and I on every level. He died peacefully in the IPU, so coming back to place a leaf on the memory tree felt such a perfect way to honour him and all the wonderful care we both received from St Helena.

Purchasing a leaf helps generate funds so that more families can be supported the way we were - that makes the memory tree even more special to me. I hope the lovely staff who took such great care of Bradley smile when they see his name on the tree - he thought the world of them."

What an BRILLIANT day! 🏃 Thank you to everyone who made the 2026 St Helena Hospice Half Marathon & 10K Race so special 🧡

753 amazing runners took on the challenge of either our Half Marathon or 10K Race at the weekend, and your dedication, determination and fundraising efforts will truly make a difference! Whether you ran, fundraised or cheered from the side-lines, you've helped us get close to raising an AMAZING £55,000 for St Helena Hospice 🎉

Thank you to all our amazing staff and volunteers whose hard work made the event possible, and to the local community for creating such a fantastic atmosphere around the course 🔥

Today we welcomed Ben Fryer and the team to the Hospice where they did the whole live show from our lounge!

Ben spoke to patients, families and staff about the hospice care and support we give at the inpatient unit and in people's homes across north east Essex.

You helped us support 4,478 people last year 🧡

Thanks to your enormous generosity, St Helena Hospice cared for 3,569 patients and 909 family members across north east Essex in 2025.

This week is extra special as we celebrate Hospice Care Week, recognising the compassionate care hospices provide to people and families facing incurable illness.

We want to take this moment to say a huge heartfelt thank you to everyone who supports us. Whether you volunteer, donate, fundraise or champion our cause, your kindness means we can continue providing outstanding hospice care, comfort and support to local people when they need it most.
