Today at Astor Court two of our ladies had a wonderful time enjoying a Cliff Richard concert In the lounge, singing along to their favourite songs and reminiscing about the music they love so much. Whilst watching, they enjoyed completing Cliff Richard themed activities such as colouring & puzzles!🎤

In the afternoon, we asked our residents if they would like to spend some time outdoors, and we were delighted that many chose to join us! Getting outside for some fresh air is something we always aim to prioritise, as it supports both physical and emotional wellbeing. 🍃

The afternoon was rounded off with delicious ice cream, a friendly game of dominoes, and plenty of laughter and conversation. It was lovely to see everyone relaxing, socialising, and making the most of a beautiful afternoon together.🍦☀️

Yesterday we were delighted to welcome the wonderful Derek to entertain us at Astor Court!🎤

Derek is not only incredibly funny but also a truly brilliant entertainer who engages so well with our residents. His sparkly hats, fantastic Elvis impressions, and infectious sense of humour had everyone smiling, singing along, and thoroughly enjoying themselves.🎩🎶

Thank you, Derek, for another memorable afternoon filled with laughter, music, and fun. We can't wait to welcome you back again soon! 💙

We've been making the most of the sunshine with dominoes, laughter, music and bingo in the garden!

Residents also enjoyed a fantastic Bread Making Day, creating and tasting delicious homemade bread together.

A special congratulations to Dorothy, who won our World Cup Sweepstake after Spain's victory and kindly shared her prizes with everyone! ⚽

World Cup Taste Test! 😋

Random Question Of The Day: Do you prefer sweet, salty or mixed popcorn?

The winning answer was Both with a score of 8-7-3! 🍿

Today our Lifestyle Team took residents on a trip around the world with our World Cup Taste Test Day!

Everyone had the chance to sample a wonderful variety of foods from different countries, including Spanish, Italian and Belgian meats, poppadom's, Pâté, olives, hot dogs, prawn crackers, a selection of cheeses, and so much more! It was fantastic to see residents trying new flavours, sharing their favourites, and having lots of fun deciding what they loved... and what they weren't quite so keen on!

To finish, we brought around a delicious dessert trolley filled with tiramisu, Belgian chocolate ganache, American pancakes, and Greek Yogurt, the perfect sweet ending to a fantastic afternoon.

A wonderful time full of laughter, conversation, and exploring flavours from around the globe.

Residents and staff enjoyed a delicious ice cream treat this afternoon, with a fantastic selection of toppings including chocolate, sauce, sprinkles, and more! It was the perfect way to cool down on a lovely hot afternoon, and everyone had a wonderful time.

A huge thank you to Judith from Cramlington for kindly donating magazines for our residents today. It is greatly appreciated and our residents have enjoyed reading them this afternoon! 📚

Yesterday one of our residents kindly volunteered to deliver newspapers to all of the residents throughout the home. This thoughtful gesture helped ensure everyone received their daily newspaper. His kindness helped encourage independence and prompted a sense of community. It also allowed for friendly social interaction to many residents. Making a positive to everyone's day. 📰

Today some of our residents enjoyed a games morning with our current placement student Ruby, followed by an afternoon of welcoming back the brilliant Mark Turner to Astor Court!♟️

Mark never fails to fill our afternoon with plenty of laughter and smiles, our residents absolutely love having Mark visit the home and spend the afternoon singing and dancing to familiar music! 🎶🎤

We all had a brilliant day and can't wait to welcome our next entertainer to the home! 💛

Hero Party! 🦸‍♂️

Last week we celebrated all of our wonderful Astor Court Heroes with a fantastic party!

Our residents got creative by making their very own superhero masks, ready to wear for the afternoon's entertainment. It was wonderful to see everyone's imagination and creativity shine!

A huge thank you to Lewis Hill, our brilliant rock n roll entertainer, who had everyone singing, dancing, and smiling all afternoon. 🎸

Our residents also enjoyed a delicious selection of hero sweet treats from our wonderful local Catling Bakery. We had a spectacular superhero cake, tasty cookies and indulgent brownies which went down a treat!

Thank you to everyone who helped make Hero Week so special. Here's to all of our amazing Astor Court Heroes, you make every day extraordinary!

Today Don took a trip with one of our lifestyle coordinators to attend a Memory Lane Session at our local church. He thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people, sharing stories, and taking part in a sing-along to familiar tunes.

This week's theme was ''Childhood Toys & Books'' which sparked plenty of conversation!

Don was smiling, laughing, and in great spirits throughout the afternoon. He enjoyed a lovely slice of cake and a cuppa whilst socialising with others. At the end of the session, Don said he had a lovely afternoon and shared how much he loves coming to this church. The outing provided meaningful social interaction, encouraged reminiscence, and left Don feeling happy and engaged!

Thank you to the hosts and volunteers at these Memory Lane sessions. Your kindness and dedication create a friendly and supportive environment where people can really connect and build new friendships. Your efforts make a real difference to the wellbeing of those who attend!

Yesterday at Astor Court, our residents enjoyed a lovely church service followed by a delightful afternoon tea style treat. It was such a wholesome and heartwarming afternoon, filled with wonderful company together. It was lovely to see everyone come together, sharing smiles and enjoying conversation. A truly special afternoon that left us all with happy memories and a real sense of community.

A heartfelt thank you to Tish and Mike once again for brining so much happiness and joy to our residents. Your kindness, generosity, and continued support are truly appreciated, and you always help create such special moments that bring smiles to everyone's faces. Thank you for making today another wonderful occasion! 💙😀🫖🎤
