A Wonderful Lunch to Celebrate Our Alexandra Mill Choir!🎶

Today, residents from Alexandra Mill enjoyed a lovely lunch together with the Home Manager, Steph, and members of the Care Team. It was a special occasion and a wonderful opportunity to come together, enjoy each other's company and celebrate the fantastic achievement of the residents choir.

Steph wanted to take the opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to each choir member, to thank them for their dedication, patience, encouragement and hard work in forming such an amazing choir.

The choir has become a wonderful source of joy, friendship, confidence and togetherness. Seeing the residents come together to sing, share their talents and enjoy music is something we are incredibly proud of. Every rehearsal and performance is made possible by the commitment and enthusiasm of everyone involved.

Today's lunch was a lovely way to show our appreciation and recognise all the effort that goes into making the choir such a success. A big thank you to the wonderful residents for their enthusiasm and participation.

We have had the most fantastic day at Alexandra Mill✨💛

Let's go back a few months...........The Activity Team were given a challenge: form a choir!🎤

We started by inviting the wonderful residents, care team members and families to join us. Once our choir was formed, it was time to choose our songs and begin our regular practice sessions.

Today, the choir had their debut concert in front of a full house-and to say it was magnificent would be an understatement!❤️

The atmosphere was truly magical, and we couldn't be prouder of every single member of our choir. What an incredible achievement!

To embrace the occasion, we enjoyed a fabulous photo booth, a delicious buffet and of course a glass of fizz!🍾🥂

A truly unforgettable day filled with music, laughter, joy and togetherness. We can't wait to see where our choir journey takes us next!❤️🎤

🌻🌾Yeehaw! What a fantastic time at Alexandra Mill 🎤🎼

It was lovely to see the residents swapping their everyday routines for a little taste of the Wild West as they enjoyed an afternoon of Country-themed karaoke with the wonderful "We Care A Oke".

The room was filled with music, laughter and plenty of singing as residents sang their hearts out to favourite country classics from Dolly Parton and John Denver to name a couple. Whether they were taking centre stage or simply enjoying the wonderful atmosphere, everyone had a smile to share.

⚽️🏆World Cup Football Fun at Alexandra Mill🏆⚽️

As the World Cup Football draws to a close, we couldn't let the celebrations end without one final football-themed activity!

We were delighted to welcome Lydia from Vivify Dance, who led a fantastic session packed with energy and sporting spirit. Everyone enjoyed putting their football skills to the test, practising their football skills and taking on fun challenges with the ball. It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm throughout the session.

Heartwarming Moments at Alexandra Mill 💙

Today we enjoyed a wonderful one-to-one person centred outing with Ray to Bridgemere Garden Centre, giving him the opportunity to spend time doing something he truly enjoys.

The sunshine made it the perfect day to get out and explore. Ray loved strolling around the beautiful displays, taking in the colours and scents of the flowers, and spending time watching the fish in the aquarium. Seeing him smile and hearing him share his thoughts throughout the visit made the day even more special.

Of course, no trip would be complete without a stop at the cafe for a well-earned cuppa and a chat. These simple moments provide so much more than just a day out-they provide wellbeing, encourage conversation, support independence and create meaningful memories.

At Alexandra Mill, we believe every person deserves opportunities that reflect their individual interests, preferences and choices. One-to-one, person-centred experiences like these help build confidence, maintain community connections and bring happiness to everyday life.

A lovely time filled with smiles, laughter and quality time together. Thank you Ray, for such wonderful company- we're already looking forward to our next adventure 💙🐠🌼🌞🫖

To make the occasion even more special, residents tucked into a delicious Wimbledon inspired spread with a selection of cheeses and wine, fresh strawberries and cream, and, of course a refreshing glass of Pimm's - the perfect way to celebrate this iconic British sporting event.🍓🧀🍷🥂

It was wonderful to see everyone relaxing together, sharing memories of Wimbledons gone by, predicting the winner and enjoying the afternoon together. Events like these are a lovely way to bring people together and create lasting memories.

Creativity has been blooming at Alexandra Mill as the residents enjoyed a relaxing arts and crafts session with Sara and Hilary from HSL Pottery, designing their own beautiful wall plaques using flowers and foliage collected from the garden.

From delicate petals to leafy greenery, each plaque was carefully arranged to create a unique piece of natural artwork, reflecting each resident's individual style and imagination. The activity encouraged everyone to appreciate the beauty of nature and transform nature's treasures into lasting keepsakes.

There was plenty of conversation and shared inspiration throughout the session, making it a wonderful social activity as well as a creative one. We are so proud of the fantastic plaques the residents have created-they are a beautiful reminder that inspiration can be found right outside in the garden !! Each plaque will now be fired and glazed at HSL Pottery Studio, we can't wait to see the finished pieces. 🌿🪻💛
