🌟Celebrating Our Amazing Volunteers at Alexandra Mill🌟

As part of Volunteers Week, we were delighted to present our Volunteers Carol and Chris with a gift and certificate to show our appreciation for everything they do throughout the year.

Our volunteers play such an important role at Alexandra Mill. Whether they are supporting residents on trips out, running our popular crossword club, spending time chatting with residents or simply offering a helping hand and a friendly smile, their contribution is invaluable.

The time, care and dedication they give help create a vibrant, welcoming and supportive community. They bring joy, companionship, encouragement and fun to so many people and their kindness has a positive impact every single day.

Volunteers Week is the perfect opportunity to recognise the difference they make and to say a heartfelt thank you for their commitment, generosity and enthusiasm.

🐾Pet Therapy at Alexandra Mill🐾

This week, we were delighted to welcome some very special visitors to Alexandra Mill - our much loved pet therapy dogs, Edith and Flora, and Lulu and Lunar the Guinea pigs.❤️

Their visit brought so much joy, comfort and companionship to everyone here at the home. Residents enjoyed spending time stroking, cuddling and chatting about their own beloved pets and treasured memories from years gone by. It was wonderful to see so many smiles and watch the positive connections that these gentle animals help to create.

Pet therapy sessions provide more than just enjoyment; they can help reduce feelings of loneliness, encourage social interaction, stimulate conversation and promote a sense of calm and wellbeing.

A huge Thankyou to the pet therapy teams for bringing these wonderful animals into the home and helping to create such meaningful moments. We are incredibly grateful for the happiness they bring and are already looking forward to welcoming them back again soon.

🎼What a fantastic afternoon here at Alexandra Mill 💛

Residents were delighted to spend the afternoon with one of our favourite singers "Britt" who once again had everyone singing along to a wonderful selection of well-loved songs. From timeless classics to familiar favourites, the room was filled with music, laughter and plenty of happy faces. 😊

Music has such a special way of bringing people together, and it was lovely to see residents reminiscing, tapping their feet, singing along and enjoying the wonderful atmosphere. There were smiles all around as Britt entertained us with another fantastic performance that had everyone engaged from start to finish.

A huge Thank You to Britt for sharing her talent and helping to create such a memorable afternoon.

🌼Garden transformation at Alexandra Mill🌼

There has been lots of hard work taking place in the gardens this week, with team members spending time planning, digging. weeding and planting to help create a beautiful outdoor space for the residents to enjoy. 🌿🌸

The garden is already looking brighter, more colourful and welcoming - a lovely place to sit, relax and enjoy the fresh air as we head into the warmer months. It's amazing what can be achieved through teamwork, care and a little sunshine. 🌼🌞

A huge thank you goes to Kelly, Yvonne, Sean and Paul for all of their hard work, time and dedication. Your efforts have made such a difference and are greatly appreciated by both residents and colleagues alike. 👏💚

Residents and care team members, together with deputy manager Katie, enjoyed a wonderful summertime lunch filled with warmth, laughter and great company.🌞🍽️

The dining room was full of cheerful conversation as everyone shared treasured memories and stories from summers past - from seaside holidays and family picnics to childhood adventures in the sunshine. The afternoon brought smiles to everyone's faces and created a lovely opportunity for residents and the care team to connect, reminisce and enjoy quality time together.💛

It was a truly heart warming gathering. Moments like these remind us how special it is to come together as one big family. ✨

Today at Alexandra Mill, residents and our African care team members came together to celebrate Africa Day with a wonderful afternoon full of culture, music, laughter and togetherness🌍✨

Our residents enjoyed an armchair tour of Africa, learning about the beauty, traditions, landmarks and vibrant cultures from across the continent. It sparked lots of conversation, memories and smiles all around.

The celebrations continued with traditional African music and dancing, creating a fantastic party atmosphere. Residents loved joining in, clapping along to the rhythms and sharing such a joyful experience with our amazing African care team members, who helped make the day extra special.

Events like these are a lovely way to celebrate diversity, learn about different cultures and bring people together. Thank you to everyone who took part and helped create such a warm, welcoming environment🖤💚❤️💛

✨🎤Mamma Mia....... what an afternoon we had at Alexandra Mill✨🎤

Residents enjoyed a wonderful musical afternoon with We Care E Oke as we celebrated the music of ABBA throughout the month of May. From Dancing Queen to Waterloo, the room was filled with singing, laughter, clapping and plenty of toe-tapping as everyone joined in with the much loved classics.

Music has a special way of bringing people together, it was lovely to see residents reminiscing, sharing smiles and enjoying every moment with friends and the care team. The atmosphere was full of happiness, energy and wonderful memories as everyone embraced the fun and spirit of the afternoon.💛

A huge thank you to We Care E Oke for another fantastic session and for helping create such a joyful experience for everyone at Alexandra Mill. We are already looking forward to the next singalong ✨🎼

🌿Gardening is more than just planting flowers and keeping the grounds tidy - it's about purpose, memories and doing things that bring joy. At Alexandra Mill, we pride ourselves on providing person-centred care and creating meaningful opportunities for the people we support every day💚

This week, Ted has been spending lots of time outdoors helping in the garden, something he truly loves. With many years experience as a farmer, Ted has a fantastic wealth of knowledge when it comes to gardening, planting and caring for the outdoor spaces.

From sharing gardening tips to helping keep everything healthy and well watered, Ted has been a massive help and has thoroughly enjoyed getting involved. It has been wonderful to see his confidence shine while doing something so familiar and important to him.

Spending time outdoors can have such a positive impact on wellbeing, and seeing Ted enjoying the fresh air, conversation and a sense of achievement has been lovely to see.

Thank you Ted, for all your hardwork and for sharing your knowledge with us - the garden is looking fantastic🌷💚

Residents recently came together for one of the home's most loved social occasions - the infamous cheese and wine afternoon 🧀🍷

The room was filled with laughter, lively conversation and plenty of delicious cheeses for everyone to enjoy. residents relaxed with their favourite tipple while spending quality time together.

These afternoons are always a fantastic opportunity for residents to socialise, make memories and enjoy the warm and friendly atmosphere that makes Alexandra Mill feel so special.

It was lovely to see everyone smiling, chatting and thoroughly enjoying the afternoon together.

🪻The Hollies Farm Shop🌸

Residents from Alexandra Mill have enjoyed a wonderful trip out to The Hollies Farm Shop, where everyone had a fantastic time exploring the beautiful surroundings. Residents loved browsing the fresh local produce, gift shops and seasonal displays, with plenty of interesting finds along the way.

The visit was made even more special with a relaxing stop at the lovely cafe, where residents enjoyed a cuppa, delicious cake and plenty of chit-chat together. Trips like these are a great opportunity to enjoy new surroundings, spend quality time together and create happy memories and it's safe to say this outing was enjoyed by all💛
