🏠 What is Cuckooing?

Cuckooing is a form of exploitation where criminals take over the home of a vulnerable person and use it for illegal activities, such as drug dealing, storing weapons, or other criminal behaviour.

People targeted may be older adults, those living alone, people with disabilities, mental health difficulties, substance misuse issues, or those experiencing financial hardship.

⚠️ Signs of cuckooing can include: • Increased visitors at unusual times • Changes in a person's behaviour or appearance • Signs of drug use or anti-social behaviour around a property • Damage to a property or unexplained repairs • The resident appearing fearful, withdrawn, or controlled by others

If you are worried that someone may be a victim of cuckooing, trust your instincts and report your concerns. Early intervention can help protect vulnerable people from harm.

âś… Contact your local authority for advice on safe sharps disposal

❌ Please do not bring sharps bins to your GP practice or pharmacy.

Help keep patients, staff and the community safe by disposing of sharps correctly. đź’™

📬 Received your NHS Bowel Screening test through the post? Don't put it in a drawer... put it by the loo instead! 🚽

Keeping your Bowel Screening kit somewhere you'll see it, like next to the toilet, is a simple reminder to complete it.

The test is quick, easy to do at home, and could help detect bowel cancer early, when treatment is most effective.

âś… When it arrives:
đźš˝ Put it by the loo
🧪 Complete the test as soon as you can
đź“® Pop it back in the post

A few minutes of your time could make a big difference to your health. đź’™

📢 PLEASE READ 📢

The practice will no longer prescribe medication solely for the purpose of delaying a period for holidays or travel.

Period delay medication is available privately from a number of registered online pharmacies and may also be available from some local community pharmacies. Services vary between pharmacies depending on the training and services they provide, so we recommend contacting pharmacies directly to check availability.

We recognise that there may occasionally be specific circumstances where period delay medication may be appropriate for reasons unrelated to holidays or travel. These requests will be considered individually by the clinical team and managed routinely. Following review, prescribing is not guaranteed and will be based on clinical appropriateness.

If you are experiencing problems with your periods, such as unusually heavy or painful bleeding, irregular bleeding or other concerning symptoms, please continue to contact the practice in the usual way.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Keeping your child's vaccinations up to date is one of the best ways to protect them from serious illnesses.

Vaccines help protect against diseases such as measles, whooping cough, meningitis and polio – illnesses that can spread quickly and sometimes lead to serious complications.

By vaccinating your child on time, you're not only protecting them, but also helping to protect babies, vulnerable people and your wider community.

đź’‰ Check your child's Red Book or speak to your GP practice if you're unsure whether they're up to date.
