Water Safety Starts with SAFE
With the recent warm weather and some heartbreaking drowning incidents making the news, we're sharing simple steps that can help keep children safe around water this summer.
Remember SAFE:
💙 S – Supervise children at all times around water
💙 A – After use, cover it
💙 F – Fence it, gate it or grill it
💙 E – Empty it or turn it over
Even small amounts of water can pose a risk. Paddling pools, buckets, water trays and garden ponds all need careful attention.
Worryingly, almost one in four parents believe it's okay to leave a child alone in water if they're wearing armbands or a swim vest. These can aid buoyancy, but they are not a substitute for close, constant supervision.
As we approach Drowning Prevention Week, we're sharing advice to help everyone enjoy the water safely this summer.
