Over the past year many of you will have noticed changes to some of the services provided through the Practice and, at times, increased pressures on appointments and administration.
We believe it is important to be open with our patients about what has been happening.
The Practice has been required to devote a significant amount of time and management resource to resolving issues surrounding the transition of services commissioned through our local Health and Social Care Partnerships. This has involved numerous meetings, correspondence and attempts to resolve concerns about how these changes have been implemented.
As a result, time that we would much rather have spent developing services, supporting our staff and improving the patient experience has instead been diverted into addressing these issues.
We recognise that some patients have experienced frustration during this period, and we are genuinely sorry for that. Our team has continued to work extremely hard to provide safe, high-quality care throughout, often while managing significant additional pressures behind the scenes.
Because we remain concerned about the impact these changes have had on the Practice and our patients, we have formally escalated our concerns to NHS Lothian. A formal dispute process is now underway, together with an independent investigation, and we are committed to working constructively towards a resolution.
Our priority has always been, and remains, providing the best possible care for our patients. We hope that resolving these issues will allow us to return our full attention to improving and developing the services that our community deserves.
Thank you for your continued patience, understanding and support.
