We wanted to share this opportunity for parents who have accessed the ASGSF and would like to share their views. This important research project aims to evaluate the changes to the fund in 2025/26 and the impact this has had on families.

Dr Tam Cane, University of Sussex and Dr. Peter Unwin, University of Worcester are conducting a study with adoptive parents to gather further evidence on the impact of these changes, and what is happening for you since then, and after the consultation. They hope you may be able to assist us in the process of gaining research evidence around this important issue.

In recognition of National Adoption Week, we are really looking forward to joining the ‘AUK Talks’ Series by Adoption UK Charity 💜

In this talk ‘Getting Ready to Adopt: What is bodily regulation and why is it especially important to know about it?’, Sarah Lloyd (Author and Director of The BUSS Model) will be thinking with participants about bodily regulation and how it forms a platform for the development of everything else, such as being able to relate, to play, to manage feelings and to learn.

🎟️ This week’s session is fully booked, so if you’ve missed out on joining us this time, we are back with AUK on 24th November 2026 for Sarah’s second talk, titled ‘Building Good Bodily Regulation’.

👤 These talks will be aimed at parents and carers, but anyone who supports children and families (from extended family, friends or professionals working in this field) are of course very welcome to attend too.

We’re really pleased to be sharing this exciting opportunity to join the BUSS Team! 🌟

We are looking for experienced practitioners to join our team and train to practise as a BUSS (Building Underdeveloped Sensorimotor Systems) Practitioner 🔍

Previous training or experience in BUSS is preferred, but not essential. We can provide full training and supervision if you are interested in an intensive ‘in-post’ training in Leeds 📚

This post is ideally suited to an Occupational Therapist with paediatric experience, but we also welcome applications from Social Workers or Clinicians working in Adoption, Fostering, Kinship and SGO.

📣 Join us to hear the latest research into BUSS 📣

BUSS (Building Underdeveloped Sensorimotor Systems) is a therapy designed for adoptive, foster, kinship and special guardianship families. We’ll talk about why building bodily regulation is so important for children who have experienced disruption at the beginning of their lives, and how families are the best people to do that 🧡

This report presents the findings of research looking at clinical outcome measures for 468 children and young people who completed BUSS 🔍

Outcome Measures used include:
📊 Strength and Difficulties Questionnaires (SDQs)
📊 Goal Based Outcomes (GBOs)
📊 Brief Assessment Checklists for Children and Adolescents (BAC-C & BAC-A)
📊 Thinking About Your Child (TAYC-R)
