๐ฟ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐๐๐ง๐๐ฌ๐๐๐ฒ: Recognising and Supporting Young Carers ๐ฟ
This Wellbeing Wednesday, weโd like to shine a spotlight on the incredible work of ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ซ๐ฌ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ค๐ฌ and the invaluable support they provide to children and young people across Buckinghamshire. ๐
A young carer is a child or young person who helps to care for a family member who may have a disability, long-term illness, mental health condition, emotional wellbeing difficulties, addiction, or additional needs. While many young carers take on practical responsibilities, they often carry emotional responsibilities too, worrying about loved ones, helping siblings, or providing comfort and support within the family home.
Young carers often show remarkable awearness, compassion, and maturity beyond their years. However, they also need support, understanding, and opportunities to take a break from their caring role.
This is why organisations such as ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ซ๐ฌ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ค๐ฌ are so important. They provide dedicated support, activities, respite opportunities, advice, and a chance for young carers to connect with others who understand their experiences. Their work helps ensure that young carers feel seen, valued, and supported.
At ๐๐ข๐ง๐๐๐ฎ๐ฅ ๐๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ ๐๐ญ๐, we understand that when one family member is struggling, the impact can be felt across the whole family. Supporting emotional wellbeing means recognising the needs of siblings and young carers too.
๐ Because every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, be supported, and simply enjoy being a child. ๐
