The New Croft Surgery

It is with sadness that Dr Joanna Walker and Dr Paul Robinson will both be retiring from Ireland Wood Surgery on the 27th November 2026 after completing over 50 years of General Practice in Cookridge between them.

Both Dr Walker and Dr Robinson feel privileged and honoured to have been able to serve the local community over this time. They are grateful for the many excellent patient -doctor relationships that they have established and enjoyed with both individuals and extended families whilst working at the practice.

They would both also like to give their thanks to all the colleagues that they have worked with over this time- without the teamwork and support offered they would not have been able to perform their job, let alone enjoy it as they have!

From the Wednesday 26th August we will be introducing SystmConnect as our new online patient contact platform. As part of this change, Anima will no longer be available and will be removed from our website. All online requests and communications with the practice will instead be managed through SystmConnect.

RSV is a common cause of coughs and colds. Most people get it several times during their life. It usually gets better by itself, but in some people (especially babies and older adults) it can cause illnesses, such as:
pneumonia (a lung infection)
bronchiolitis (a chest infection that affects babies)

You should be offered the RSV vaccine around the time of your 28-week antenatal appointment.
Getting vaccinated as soon as possible from 28 weeks will provide the best protection for your baby. But the vaccine can be given later if needed, including up until you go into labour.

New service for people who use British Sign Language (BSL)

InterpretersLive! have a new service to help people who use BSL talk to their GP surgery.

How to Use the Service

Go to the website and click the link provided, more information can be found on the the practice website, following the link attached to the reasonable adjustments page (scroll to the bottom of the page)
You can use the service from 8:00am to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday.
You will be asked a few questions.
You will be connected to a BSL interpreter.
Tell the interpreter which GP surgery you want to talk to.
The interpreter will call your GP surgery and help you talk to them.
