This weekend marks 6 years of Align 💚

When I opened the clinic six years ago, I never could have imagined where Align is today. There have been so many highs (a sprinkle of lows 😆), lots of lessons, and more memorable moments than I can count.

What started as an idea maaany years ago has grown into something so much bigger than I ever imagined. Align has become a place where people come not only for treatment, but for support, reassurance, guidance and care through all stages of life. Being trusted with that responsibility is something I will never take for granted.

To every patient who has walked through our doors, thank you. Thank you for trusting us with your health, sharing your stories, recommending us to friends and family, and supporting our small business along the way.

I’m also incredibly grateful for the wonderful community around us and for the amazing team we’ve built at Align. Watching the clinic grow into a multidisciplinary team of therapists who genuinely care about their patients has been one of my proudest achievements.

And speaking of growth, I’m so excited to welcome Katie (.sportstherapy) to the team next month. Katie is a Sports Therapist who will be working alongside me and Dave, and her availability is now live to book!

Sciatica isn’t a diagnosis!

It’s a description of symptoms caused by irritation of the sciatic nerve.

That’s why being told “you have sciatica” doesn’t necessarily tell you what’s causing your pain, or what needs to be done to fix it.

But!

Why is the nerve being irritated in the first place?!

For one person it might be coming from the lower back.
For another it could be related to the pelvis, hip, deep gluteal muscles, or surrounding tissues affecting the nerve.

Different cause = different treatment (and also different recovery timelines!!)

If you’ve been struggling with sciatica and nothing seems to be helping, it may be because the focus has been on the symptom rather than the underlying cause.

Save this post for later and send it to someone who’s been told they “just have sciatica”.
