Our lovely Chaplain April did a reflective scrapbooking craft session with the ladies this week in the chapel, they all had their own scrapbook to use so they could add in what they wished. There was plenty of choice of materials and art supplies to choose from for them to stick in and it will be a lovely ongoing project the ladies can continue with April. ๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ๐Ÿ“”๐Ÿ’•

Seize The Day ๐ŸŒŸ

MHA seize the day initiative encourages residents to re-experience activities from the past or try something new, so when we found out resident Mavis was a previous member at the Lincoln and District Indoor Bowling Club for over 20 years we couldnt wait to take her back.

Mavis originally became a member when her husband Rick convinced her to have ago after frequently watching his games, Mavis became to love the game and still has all her equipment from the boules, pick up sticks and even her shoes she told us. Mavis would take part in league competitions and got her name on the league boards within the club. On the day we visited she even saw a friend from the past, he and his wife used to play alongside Mavis which made the day even more special.

Mavis was joined by fellow boules member Margaret along with Christine and Colin who also really enjoyed having a go. The session was led by coach Steve who always looks after us when we visit and he is such a great teacher, we also enjoyed a delicious lunch within the club at cafe jaxx.

On 18th July our lovely resident Eileen celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by family, friends, residents and staff for an afternoon garden party ๐ŸŽ‰
Eileen was visited by so many to wish her happy birthday, she had a special visit from Councillor Claire Smalley Mayor of Lincoln and Darren Smalley City Sheriff who came with flowers and spent time chatting with all of her guests and Eileen also had a special visit from her favourite singer George Papakyriacou a regular entertainer to the home who came to sing for everyone at the party outside.

Big thank you to Chef Jo for a beautiful birthday cake and cupcakes which everyone enjoyed and Eileenโ€™s family who supplied pictures for us to make a slideshow of Eileenโ€™s life and special family moments to show on the day.

Eileen had an amazing day and was truly spoilt with so many gifts and flowers, her card from the King was presented to her also by her son Roger.

Massive happy birthday again to our Stones Place birthday Queen. ๐ŸŽ‚

๐Ÿฌ Shop Opening ๐Ÿฌ

Last week we opened our newly decorated shop within the home named The Cabin, our lovely long standing volunteer Ellen was asked to cut the ribbon to officially open the shop as she will be the shop assistant each week. Residents were in attendance eagerly waiting to have a look inside and do some shopping.

The shop has an array of confectionary, toiletries and stationary on offer and will be open two days a week for residents to visit and sit and have a chat with Ellen while getting themselves a treat. ๐Ÿ›’๐Ÿซ
