Some very special news from Sean’s Place to end the week.

We are absolutely delighted to share that Sean’s Place has been awarded four years of funding from The National Lottery Community Fund through Reaching Communities. ❤️

After what has been a challenging year of funding uncertainty, this really does feel like a huge weight lifted.

Despite the scale of the work we do, Sean’s Place receives no government funding to keep our service running. We rely on grants, donations, fundraising and the incredible partnerships we have built within our community to keep our doors open and ensure our support remains completely free for the thousands of men and boys who need us.

Every year brings the worry of whether we will raise enough to cover our costs and continue providing the support our members rely on. This four-year investment gives us some stability and the ability to plan ahead with some much-needed peace of mind.

It doesn’t fund everything we do, and fundraising will always remain incredibly crucial in keeping Sean’s Place going, but having this commitment behind us for the next four years helps massivley.

A huge thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund and, of course, to every National Lottery player who makes funding like this possible.

And to everyone who has donated, fundraised, partnered with us or simply believed in what we do, thank you. You continue to help us keep our lights on, our doors open and our support available to those who need us ❤️

Today we had the privilege of attending the launch of the Close to Home exhibition at Liverpool’s Cunard Building, alongside our friend Steve Phillip from The Jordan Legacy.

We was genuinely overwhelmed by how beautifully this exhibition has been created. Through art, film, photography, poetry and more, it gives space to experiences of su***de, bereavement and loss in a way that feels incredibly thoughtful and respectful.

We had the opportunity to meet the artist Mark Storor and hear from Dr Angela Samata and Patrick Fox about the 12 year journey behind this work and how something that has historically been hidden away and so difficult to talk about being given such a visible space in one of Liverpool’s most iconic buildings.

We’ll be back at the Cunard Building tomorrow with our wonderful patrons FPC, and Close to Home opens to the public this Saturday, 5th September. It’s completely free to visit and runs until 10th October. ❤️

This evening we introduced two brand new classes to our timetable – Foundation Fitness for anyone who is new to exercise, getting back into it or just prefers to take things at a slower pace, and Advanced Fitness, which we’ve introduced because of just how much progress our members have made since we started our fitness sessions just over a year ago.

It’s amazing to see how far some of our members have come, but we also know that sometimes just walking through the door and giving something new a go is a huge achievement in itself.

Whether you’re dipping your toe in for the first time or you’re now doing things you never thought you could, we are so proud of you all.

We know how much courage it can take to get involved, especially when confidence is low, and we couldn’t be prouder of every single person who gave it a go tonight ❤️💫

On 24th September, our team Debbie, Lisa, Tony, Mandy, Alex, Brandon and Nicole will be stepping VERY far outside our comfort zones and abseiling 100ft down Anfield Stadium! 😬

We’ll be joined by some incredible people from Excel Housing, Bond Turner Solicitors and Carpenters Group , our Board Member Elaine and Dr Nina Jo Smith, all taking on the challenge alongside us. ❤️

Every day, our members show courage by walking through our doors and asking for help. They show us what bravery looks like every day..... Now it’s our turn.

The funding landscape is incredibly tough right now, and community support and fundraising are more important than ever in helping us keep our doors open and our support free.

So please get behind us! Sponsor us if you can, share our fundraiser or cheer us on from the safety of the ground 😂❤️

Every pound makes a difference.

Lets Go TEAM SEAN'S PLACE 💫

What a busy day at Sean’s Place 💙❤️

Alongside First Aid training for some of our members, Yoga & Mindfulness, Create & Connect, Quiet Connections and finishing the day with Coffee & Connect, we also had a really important opportunity to contribute and influence national policy.

We welcomed Gary from the University of York, who spent time listening directly to our members about what Sean’s Place means to them, how services like ours support men, and what they believe needs to be considered within the Men’s Health Strategy.

For us, this was a huge part of the day. Policies and strategies that affect men should be shaped by the voices and real-life experiences of the men they are designed to support.

Our members didn’t just get a seat at the table today, they had the opportunity to use their experiences to influence change for other men too. 💫❤️

Today our members took part in Chair-Based Fitness this morning and a Kettlebells workout this afternoon.

At Sean’s Place, it’s important to us that people have options available to them. There’s no pressure to keep up, no comparison and no expectation, just encouragement to find something that works for you.

One of our members told us today how much it meant that our Chair-Based Fitness session was adapted so everyone could take part. And that’s exactly what we want our sessions to be about, removing barriers, building confidence and helping people recognise what they CAN do.

Because movement supports so much more than our physical health. It can lift our mood, build confidence, create connection and give us a reason to feel proud.

Huge thanks to Tony and Brandon, and well done to everyone who joined us today! ❤️💫

Tonight was all about giving our amazing volunteers and newly trained Ride Leaders the confidence to support people safely.

We delivered Safeguarding and Su***de Prevention training, helping everyone understand what to look out for, how to start those difficult conversations and, importantly, what to do if someone tells them they are struggling.

Our volunteers aren't expected to have all the answers or to be therapists , but we want them to feel comfortable, confident and supported if someone reaches out to them.

A huge thank you to everyone who gave up their evening to take part. Another brilliant group of people investing their time and skills to help us create a safer, stronger and more supportive community. ❤️💫

Today we were incredibly lucky to welcome former LFC goalkeeper Chris Kirkland to spend some time with our members and celebrate the launch of his new book, "Keeping It Quiet".

Chris personally signed a copy for each of the lads, taking the time to chat, share stories and make the afternoon feel really special. We also put their Liverpool knowledge to the test with an LFC trivia quiz.

And no proper Liverpool afternoon would be complete without some famous Scouse pies*to finish it off!

For us, sessions like this are about so much more than an activity. They bring men together, create conversations, give people something to look forward to and remind our members that they are part of a community where they belong.

A massive thank you to Chris for giving his time so generously and making today such a memorable one for our members.

Another very special day at Sean’s Place. ❤️

Some days really capture what Sean’s Place is all about 💫

☕ Over 50 men joined us for Coffee & Connect, chatting, laughing, catching up and simply spending time with people who get it.

🚴 5 of our members completed Ride Leader training with Cycling Uk giving up their time to help us grow our cycling club. Men who came to us for support, now building their confidence and skills to support others.

🥾 20 men headed out together for a walk to Crosby Marina and back, finishing with a picnic in our garden.

🧘 And this evening, over 20 men joined our Sound Bath and Meditation session, taking some time to slow down, switch off and look after themselves.

And alongside everything you could see happening today, our team also delivered over 30 one-to-one counselling appointments and 20 initial consultations and initial appointments with men reaching out for help. That’s what makes Sean’s Place so special.

There is no single way to support someone’s mental health. Sometimes it’s counselling. Sometimes it’s that first phone call asking for help. Sometimes it’s getting outside, learning something new, volunteering, exercising, sitting quietly with others or simply having a brew and knowing you belong somewhere.

Today our building was full from morning until evening with connection, friendship, purpose and men looking after themselves and each other..❤️

We’re delighted to be working with the Sefton ACES Team, who are now delivering a programme with our members at Sean’s Place.

For us, partnerships have to be about more than simply bringing another programme into our service. We need to know that what we offer our members is safe, good quality and delivered by people who genuinely care about the men taking part.

Their staff are kind, approachable and genuinely invested in the people they work with, and it has been lovely to see them getting to know our members and becoming part of the Sean’s Place community.

We’re really excited to see how the programme develops, the difference it makes for our members and where this partnership might take us in the future.

A huge thank you to everyone at Sefton ACES for working alongside us and, most importantly, for caring about our members as much as we do. ❤️💫 South Sefton Primary Care Network Aces Course South-Sefton Pcn
