People First Merseyside is a Self Advocacy organisation ran by adults with a learning disability.

We aim to empower people to speak up for themselves and for others, to enjoy the same rights as everyone else.

☀️ Today, we enjoyed the sunshine with Merseyside tcv at Bridge Community Farm!

🌿 We started with a leaf hunt. Whilst we collected leaves, we used an ID sheet to work out what tree the different leaves are from.

🎨 After that, we got creative and made leaf mobiles! Some of us are going to use them to decorate our homes, bringing a little bit of nature inside!

A fabulous day at Grow Speke thanks to Ian and his brilliant team! The wild weather didn't stop us exploring the new area developing around the pond, which also features the great bug hotels we made!

The chilly weather made us even more determined to make bird 🐦 feeders using logs which we hung in the trees. We talked about some of the British birds which are declining in numbers and how we can help them survive over the winter.

Everyone loved potting up strawberry 🍓 and herb cuttings- we can't wait to see them take root 😀

🎤Yesterday, Rebecca went down to the Spine building to record the narration for a film we are making with Charlotte from C&M Cancer Alliance

☀️ Today we had a brilliant visit to Everton Pool Garden and Everton Community Garden!

💚Thank you to Taking Root in Bootle Christine @ Lotus Brook Regenerus for making this possible. We really enjoyed being shown around and noticing the changes since the last time we visited in the summer.

🌿We also seen the seasonal fruit and veg that is growing in the community garden. We look forward to visiting again soon!

As we're getting close to Halloween we've been finding out about all the amazing bats around the world- and in the UK - including the fabulous bats in our beautiful Derby Park and North Park . We discovered that climate change is having a very damaging impact on bats. We know that important groups like the Bat Conservation Trust and Bristol Uni are working hard to find out how we can protect bat species in the future and our own teams in Sefton are doing this work locally !

Thank you to Beccy , Stuart and the whole wonderful team at St Leonards Community Centre and Garden ! It's such a magical hideaway- and even now can boast such wonderful flowers 💐- from borage, to nasturtiums, verbena for the bees 🐝 and daisies to make us all smile 😃

Another fab afternoon with Gill, Jan and Ali at the Gateway Collective. The shortbread was so easy to make and tastes divine! 😋
It felt so good to get involved in bulb planting too - preparing for the lovely colours of late winter and early spring . What a treat. 🌼 🌸

🌳Yesterday we spent the afternoon at Bridge Community Farm with Ruth and Bertie from Merseyside tcv

🐦We did a session all about Birds, starting with a walk around the farm spotting birds and then we went onto making bird feeders from scratch! It was a fantastic session.

🚶‍♂️Today we went on a Nature/ Weather Walk. We spotted more birds on this walk, along with other wildlife and much more. We record how the weather and wildlife are every month, so that we can compare the changes over time.
