She has a background in Telecoms and Technology. Her journey into health has started very early in childhood when a sensitive constitution had led to severe anxiety and later on to a number of health challenges (consecutive sinus infections and headaches, insomnia, disordered eating, chronic amenorrhea, depression). A pivotal point in her life was in her thirties when she was diagnosed with advanced osteoporosis. It was a challenge but also an opportunity to leave her managerial corporate role in Telecoms and move into a new more meaningful path. Since then, she studied and researched extensively the links between chronic disease, genetics, emotional and spiritual imprint and now she is combining these into her own programs. Having osteoporosis does not mean you need to give up yoga.

Yoga can support balance, posture, mobility and body awareness—all important for staying strong and reducing falls.

But certain movements may need adapting: deep forward bends, deep or forceful twists and headstands, particularly with spinal osteoporosis or previous vertebral fractures.

The aim is not to become afraid of movement. It is to make the movement appropriate for your body.

Before your next class, tell your instructor about your bone health and ask for osteoporosis-safe modifications.

Save this for your next yoga session. 🧘‍♀️🦴

Resistance training deserves its place in a bone-health programme—but it isn’t the only kind of movement that matters.

Bone strength is important. So is being able to balance, react, coordinate your movements and remain confident in your body.

Yoga and Pilates may not provide the same progressive bone-loading stimulus as resistance training, but they can develop physical qualities that weights alone may not train sufficiently.

This isn’t about choosing one over the other. They have different roles.

Keep your resistance training and add one weekly yoga or Pilates session focused on balance, posture and controlled movement.

Save this when you plan next week’s exercise.

Your hip shows osteoporosis, your spine shows osteopenia—and an X-ray reveals arthritis.

It is easy to assume that the spine must simply be stronger.

But that may not be the full story.

Arthritis and other degenerative changes can sometimes make spinal bone density appear artificially higher on a DEXA scan. The result may look more reassuring even though it does not accurately represent the strength of the bone itself.

This is why I never look at one T-score in isolation.

A DEXA measures bone mineral density. An X-ray provides different information about the structure of the spine and joints. Each test answers a different question—and the real value comes from interpreting the findings together.

Your scan gives you a number. Proper interpretation gives that number meaning.

Practical step: Obtain copies of both reports and ask for them to be reviewed together.

One nutrient is often missed in Hashimoto’s. Another may backfire.

The nutrients involved in thyroid health don’t affect only your thyroid—they may also influence your energy, muscles and bones.

🔹 Selenium supports thyroid hormone metabolism and antioxidant protection.
🔹 Zinc contributes to thyroid, immune and bone function.
🔹 Vitamin D supports immune regulation, muscle strength and calcium absorption.
🔹 Iron is frequently overlooked, yet low levels may worsen fatigue and interfere with normal thyroid hormone production.
🔹 Omega-3 fats may support a balanced inflammatory response.

And iodine?

Your thyroid needs it—but more is not necessarily better. Excess iodine may worsen thyroid dysfunction in susceptible people with Hashimoto’s.

This does not mean you need all these supplements.

My advice: assess your diet, vitamin D and a full iron profile first. Then personalise according to your results—not a generic “thyroid support” list.

Save this video before buying another supplement—and share it with someone who has Hashimoto’s.

*Educational content only. Supplements, particularly iron and iodine, require appropriate assessment and professional guidance.*

Your bone loss may not be caused by menopause alone—especially if you also have Hashimoto’s.

Declining estrogen can accelerate bone breakdown. But thyroid hormones also influence bone remodelling, energy and muscle strength—all essential for maintaining strong bones.

Hashimoto’s itself does not automatically cause osteoporosis. The concern is the bigger picture: poorly controlled thyroid function, excessive thyroid medication, menopause, reduced muscle strength and nutritional deficiencies may overlap.

This is why thyroid health and bone health should not always be investigated separately.

And there is another missing piece: several nutrients needed by the thyroid are also important for your muscles and bones—but one commonly recommended “thyroid nutrient” may backfire.

I’ll explain those nutrients in Part 2.

Do you have both Hashimoto’s and bone loss?

*Educational content only. This does not constitute diagnosis or treatment. Thyroid medication should only be reviewed with your prescribing clinician.*

You may think of magnesium as the mineral for sleep or muscle cramps—but its role goes much further.

Your bones, brain, energy production and nervous system all depend on adequate magnesium. That’s why I don’t look at symptoms—or nutrients—in isolation.

Start with food: pumpkin seeds, almonds, leafy greens, avocado and good-quality dark chocolate. 🌿

But remember: adding one “super nutrient” cannot compensate for what the rest of the body needs. Strong health is built by understanding how your systems work together.

Because everything is connected. 🧠🦴

Save this as a reminder—and tell me: which of these foods do you eat regularly?

We talk a lot about longevity. But I think we're missing one of its most important pieces.

We measure cholesterol.
Glucose.
Hormones.
Inflammation.
Biological age.

But what about the structure that actually has to carry you through those extra years?

Your bones and your muscle.

You can have excellent blood results — but if you're steadily losing bone strength, muscle and physical capacity, are you really ageing well?

This is why I'm increasingly interested in structural longevity: not simply living longer, but preserving the strength, mobility and resilience that allow us to remain independent.

And it also changes how I think about testing.

A DEXA scan gives us valuable information about bone mineral density. But density is only one part of the picture.

The Osentia® Fracture Risk Test is another tool I can now use. It looks at specific collagen-related markers associated with bone turnover and fracture risk, giving us another layer of information beyond imaging alone.

But the test isn't really the point.

The point is that longevity needs to include what keeps you standing, moving and capable.

For me, that means looking at bone and muscle alongside metabolic health, hormones, inflammation, nutrition, genetics, movement and lifestyle.

Because I don't want to help people simply live longer.

I want those extra years to be strong ones.

The Osentia® Fracture Risk Test is now available through me and can be incorporated into my personalised programmes.

Can we stop blaming hormones for EVERYTHING?

Yes, menopause matters. But hormones are rarely the whole story.

Falling oestrogen can reduce your resilience—making the effects of poor sleep, chronic stress, blood-sugar instability, nutrient deficiencies and muscle loss more visible.

That’s why two women can experience menopause completely differently.

Instead of asking only, “Which hormone is causing this?” ask:

“What else could be contributing?”

Menopause is part of your biology. It does not have to become your identity.

What symptom have you been told is “just menopause”?

Your next DEXA isn't until 2028… but you don't necessarily have to wait two years for clues about what your bones are doing.

Bone turnover markers can give us useful information between scans:

CTX → bone resorption
P1NP → bone formation

They don't prove you've increased bone density — the pattern, baseline and context matter.

And when you repeat your DEXA, use the same centre and ideally the same machine for a more meaningful comparison.

📌 Save this for your next bone-health appointment.

“No one talks about THIS when we talk about bone health…”

We talk about calcium, vitamin D and exercise.

But we rarely talk about environmental exposure.

Take lead, for example.

Lead can accumulate in mineralised tissues such as bone and remain there for decades.

And here's what makes this particularly interesting:

Bone is constantly being remodelled.

During periods of increased bone turnover, some of that stored lead can be released back into the circulation.

So when I'm looking at someone's bone health, I'm not only asking:

“Are they getting enough calcium?”

I'm asking a much bigger question:

“What factors could be affecting the way this person builds and loses bone?”

Nutrition. Hormones. Inflammation. Lifestyle.

And sometimes, environmental exposure deserves consideration too.

Because osteoporosis isn't simply a calcium problem.

Strong Aging means understanding the whole system.
