What a busy and enjoyable couple of days we’ve had!

Yesterday morning, we were joined by our lovely and dedicated student, Cleo. While we spent time completing a Life Story session, Cleo visited the units and treated residents to relaxing manicures.

At lunchtime, we braved the wind and rain to take Margaret and Doreen to St Paul’s Church Hall for lunch. Doreen was delighted to bump into someone she knew from one of her classes, and they enjoyed a lovely catch up. Both ladies thoroughly enjoyed the outing and said how nice it was to get out and about.

In the afternoon, we gathered on Peel Unit for a lively game of Bingo. With the weather being so gloomy, there was only one thing to shout this week, “bring back the sunshine!”☀️

Today, we continued with some 1:1 sessions before being joined by our student, Macca, later in the morning. Macca treated Val, Olwyn and Doreen to some relaxing facials, which were very much appreciated.

This afternoon was particularly special as Nesta’s daughter visited and brought a beautiful plaque. She lovingly scattered some of Nesta’s ashes beneath her tree, creating a touching and peaceful tribute that looks absolutely beautiful ❤️

We also enjoyed an afternoon art class, where we admired some of Phyllis’s wonderful artwork before trying our own hand at sketching. Everyone agreed that Phyllis has a real talent! While not everyone drew exactly what was on the table, everyone gave it their best effort, and that’s what matters most.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make these past two days so enjoyable. It’s been wonderful to see so many smiles, conversations, creativity and moments of connection.

Our May in-house competition, themed around VE Day, has now been judged, and we are more than proud to say we achieved a very respectable 🥈 2nd place!

For the past 5 weeks we’ve had the best kept secret, and we are so excited to finally share the incredible hard work and dedication of our residents. Together they designed and created their very own Spitfire, a beautiful VE Day heart surrounding our British Flag, and some very creative soldiers parachuting. 🇬🇧✈️❤️

We couldn’t be prouder of the creativity, teamwork, and effort that went into every detail, and our Peter for the best part of our photoshoot.

Congratulations to our sister home Heron Hill Care Home for taking 1st place, and a huge well done to everyone who took part in this wonderful competition 👏 Kendal Care Home Farnworth Care Home

🎥✨ What a fantastic day of memories, laughter, and reminiscing! ✨🎥

This morning, residents enjoyed some 1:1 time, working on their life stories and sharing treasured memories from years gone by. ❤️

This afternoon, we took a trip down memory lane with our very own Generation Game conveyor belt challenge! With the help of my glamorous camera crew, we even managed to film a video of the action. 😆🎬

Residents were absolutely brilliant, carefully watching as items appeared, disappeared, and swapped places on the belt. You could almost see the cogs turning as everyone put their memory skills to the test! There was lots of concentration, plenty of laughter, and some impressive scores too. 👏🧠

To round off our memory-themed afternoon, we explored our Salford history books and looked through photographs of old Walkden and Little Hulton. The memories came flooding back as we chatted about Whit Walks, dressing head to toe in white in outfits lovingly made by our mums, street parties, and the simple pleasures of childhood. 🤍📖

It's always wonderful to hear these stories and see the joy that reminiscing brings. A lovely afternoon enjoyed by all, full of conversation, connection, and happy memories. 🥰

The day began with getting creative and making our very own homemade games. There was lots of movement and exercise, along with singing, dancing, and wonderful companionship throughout the day.

We certainly worked muscles we didn’t even know we had! 💪😊 From improving motor skills and coordination to giving our voice boxes a great workout, every activity brought smiles, laughter, and a real sense of achievement.

Most importantly, the day was filled with joy, laughter, and those feel-good endorphins that leave everyone feeling uplifted and energised. ❤️

It was truly a day enjoyed by every single resident, and we can’t wait to do it all again!

Another busy and enjoyable day at home! 🌟

We started the morning by updating our birthday board for June, creating a poster for our sweepstake, and having a little fun collecting contributions from families! 😊

It was lovely to spend time chatting with new residents & family and sharing a special message from Leah’s her granddaughter, which brought plenty of smiles.

Our team also keep the gardens looking beautiful, watering all the plants at both the front and back of the home. Residents enjoyed some pampering too, with manicures and hand massages before everyone gathered for an afternoon of bingo. The room was packed, and there was lots of laughter and excitement throughout the game! In preparation for the World Cup, this week’s winners had shout “Oggi Oggi Oggi!” 🎉

To round off the day, Mags enjoyed having her hair and makeup done and looked absolutely fabulous as she got ready for her night out. 💄✨

Another wonderful day filled with friendship, fun, and plenty of smiles! ❤️
