Congratulations to our Friends of Giffords Surgery trustee Gillian Elson for Melksham East on being elected deputy Mayor!

Melksham Town Council is pleased to confirm the Mayor and Deputy Mayor for the 2026/27 civic year, following appointments made at the Annual Town Meeting held on Monday 11th May.

Councillor Saffi Rabey has been re-elected to serve a second year as Mayor of Melksham, with Councillor Gillian Elson elected as Deputy Mayor.

Mayor Saffi Rabey said she is looking forward to continuing the work of the Council over the coming year, building on the progress made so far and continuing to support positive outcomes for the town and its residents.

Deputy Mayor Gillian Elson said she was honoured to be elected and thanked fellow councillors and the community for their trust and support. She also spoke of her commitment to supporting residents, encouraging transparent communication and helping ensure Melksham remains a vibrant and inclusive community for all generations.

Melksham Town Council would like to congratulate both councillors on their appointments and thank former Deputy Mayor Cllr Westbrook for her service over the past year.

We look forward to working together for the benefit of our community in the year ahead.
