Tree Tops has been developed with great foundations in the knowledge of assessment and treatment techniques of children. The therapists have extensive knowledge into conditions of DCD, Dyspraxia, ADHD, and Sensory Processing Disorders. Post graduate training in

Sensory Integration has allowed us to introduce this specialised treatment to children on a daily basis to develop their underlying difficulties. We also have a private sensory parent support group which you are more than welcome to join.

It is important to remember that sensory issues can manifest in many different ways. They do not always present as obvious symptoms.

Identifying sensory issues can be quite tricky. Take a look at the picture for some signs to look out for πŸ–Ό

We also have a Think Sensory Not Behaviour Course for parents/carers, schools and other professionals. This is our most popular course to help you understand sensory processing and how it affects the child's behaviour. We can give you the tools and techniques to meet the needs of these sensory children to enable a happier home/school environment. 🫢

Do you have a fussy eater?

How does the SOS Approach to Feeding work?

SOS (sequential, oral and sensory) is a specialised type of programme that assesses feeding difficulties from a different point of view from muscles, sensory, development, oral motor, organs, learning, nutrition, behaviour, and the environment etc.

At Tree Tops we allow the child to 'interact' with the food in a playful way ie touching, tasting and eating with the environment of where the child eats being vitally important. We have helped many children at Tree Tops over the years who did fabulously.

Below are some pictures of one child's fun food therapy session where he decided he wanted to make a "moustache man" made from sausage, apricot and peppers.

It was great play therapy and interaction followed by a good old fashioned munch!

If you have any questions about your child and their eating, please give us a ring.

Did you know just how good jumping is for your child? It is a key skill that helps support your child's development.

Remember - always watch your child during jumping activities especially on a trampoline or at the park 😊

Visual perceptual difficulties or visual processing disorder refers to the brain's inability to make sense and interpret the information we take in through our eyes.

You can still have 20-20 sight (clear vision) but struggle to process and understand your visual surroundings.

To help this area try:

πŸ‘€ Visual memory games - matching or memory cards, remembering several objects on a tray then take one off.

πŸ‘€ Visual figure ground - jigsaw puzzle, Where's Walley, I Spy.

πŸ‘€ Tracking/scanning - word searches

πŸ‘€ Tracing/copying - copy drawings from a book, dot-to-dot books, mirror drawing.

Try to make it fun as this makes all the difference πŸ’–

It is Carers Week from Monday 8 to Sunday 14 June.

The campaign this year is not just raising awareness but the challenges faced. So, the official theme is "Building Carer Friendly Communities" which is backed by TSB Bank and many other charities such as Carers UK. Let's get together and urge others to support this campaign.

The Tree Tops team would like to send our warmest wishes to every carer in the world. You are all wonderful.

This poem is dedicated to you 😊
