Anyone who knows my story will know that doctors told me I couldn't or shouldn't ever run or lift weights. I didn't know if I could ever walk again, or even if my nerve damage would repair. I was paralyzed in 2012 through Cauda Equina. It took me 6 months to learn to walk again, and 10 years to gain confidence in the gym. I still ran a business and had my children to look after, so failure was never an option. I took on a PT three years ago who helped me push boundaries I was told I couldn't. We took on the attitude of, "You don't know till you know." I was scared to do everything I was told not to, but also didn't want to not try. So we tried, and I realized I was alright with the right nutrition, the right recovery, and the right PT. And today I'm a person in sports I was told I could never be. Today I ran my first trail marathon. Harder than a road run for sure, but I wanted a local run in case I injured myself. My daughter, my forever best friend, was there at each 5.74k lap to feed me my gels and water. I'm a very lucky lady to have her. So, never give up hope; find the right people to make you stronger.
