Lovingly reunited with her devoted husband Jeffrey. Much-loved Dad of Julie, Alison, Jennifer and Peter. Beloved Grandma, Great-Grandma and Sister.

It’s with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Matthew Horne on 5th August 2026, aged 63 years. Much loved Son, Dad, Grandad and Brother.

Matthew will be deeply missed by everyone who had the great privilege of knowing him.

Family, friends and work colleagues are invited to celebrate his life at Charnock Richard Crematorium on Wednesday 26th August at 10:30am. Following the service, a wake will be held at Bamber Bridge Football Club to share memories and raise a glass. In honour of Matt, we welcome those attending to wear football tops if you have them available.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Hilary Swarbrick, aged 89 years. She died peacefully on 6th August 2026 surrounded by family. Hilary was adored by her daughters Philomena, Katharine, Claire and Madeline and grandchildren Alasdair, Daisy, Lucy, Ella, Sophie, Joe and Emmeline. As a reception class teacher, she taught for many happy years at St Augustine’s school in Preston. She will be greatly missed by her many friends, family and former students.

Hilary’s remarkable warmth and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

The funeral will take place on Thursday, 27th August at 11:30 at St Oswald’s Church in Longton followed by interment in the churchyard. Charitable donations are gratefully received for Sightsavers UK, a cause close to her heart, c/o the funeral director.
