Yesterday, we received a truly special gift from Sam’s family.
In memory of Sam, they have kindly donated a beautiful memorial bench for our staff to enjoy during their breaks. The plaque reads:
“Keep the radio on and dance.”
There couldn’t have been more perfect words.
Sam always had his radio playing, often at full volume thanks to his hearing. 🎶 Whether it was the morning or the afternoon, his music filled the corridors with warmth, laughter and life. It became such a familiar part of Down House that it simply wouldn’t have felt the same without it.
Every time someone sits on this bench, we know they’ll think of Sam, hear a favourite tune in their mind, and remember the smiles he brought to us all.
To Sam’s family, thank you for such a thoughtful and meaningful tribute. It will be treasured by our team for many years to come.
Sam, we’ll keep the radio on. 💙
