📢 Pharmacy First – Get Treatment Without Seeing a GP

Did you know your local pharmacy can now assess and treat a range of common conditions without the need for a GP appointment?

Under the NHS Pharmacy First service, community pharmacies can provide advice and treatment for:

✅ Sinusitis (aged 12 years and over)
✅ Sore throat (aged 5 years and over)
✅ Earache (aged 1–17 years)
✅ Infected insect bites (aged 1 year and over)
✅ Impetigo (aged 1 year and over)
✅ Shingles (aged 18 years and over)
✅ Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (women aged 16–64 years)

Many patients can be assessed and, where appropriate, supplied treatment directly by the pharmacist.

💊 Pharmacists are highly trained healthcare professionals and can often help you more quickly than waiting for a GP appointment.

The NHS Lung Cancer Screening Programme is available to eligible patients aged 55–74 who are current or former smokers.

The screening aims to detect lung cancer at an early stage, often before symptoms develop, when treatment can be more effective. Around 75% of lung cancers found through screening are detected at an early stage when treatment is more likely to be successful.

If you receive an invitation, we strongly encourage you to attend your appointment. The process usually starts with a telephone assessment, and some patients may then be offered a low-dose CT scan.

✅ The scan is quick and painless
✅ Most people screened will not have lung cancer
✅ Attending could make a significant difference to your health

This week we're supporting Diabetes Week and raising awareness of diabetes and the importance of early diagnosis.

Common symptoms can include:
✅ Feeling very thirsty
✅ Passing urine more often than usual
✅ Feeling tired
✅ Unexplained weight loss
✅ Blurred vision
