Imagine having to lie on a public toilet floor!

For hundreds of thousands of disabled people and their families, that's still the reality when there's no Changing Places toilet.

A Changing Places toilet includes an adult-sized changing bench, ceiling hoist, privacy screen, height-adjustable wash basin, and a peninsular WC with space either side for carers to assist (wherever possible this should be a wash and dry toilet).

These aren't luxuries. They're essentials that give people dignity, safety and the freedom to get out and enjoy everyday life.

This Changing Places Awareness Day, please share this post. The more people who understand what a Changing Places toilet is, the more voices there are calling for them.

Because nobody should have to lie on a toilet floor.

**FINAL CALL FOR FREE CPD OT WEBINAR ON FALLS**

Thursday July 9th at 11am

Falls can happen to anyone, but where we live makes a big difference.
Our webinar will take a look at the many factors that contribute to falls — everything from personal health and behaviour, to the environment around us. It’s all about understanding how intrinsic, extrinsic, and behavioural factors interact.

We’ll focus on the home, especially the bathroom — and show how simple assessments, smart adaptations, and the right assistive technology, can really cut the risk.

You’ll leave with solutions to keep personal care safe, help your clients stay independent, and protect carers at the same time.

See link in the comments to find out more and sign up today.

The webinar will be presented by Adam Ferry from The Occupational Therapy Service and counts towards 1 hour of CPD, including a certificate.

**Calling all OTs**

Falls are one of the leading causes of injury and loss of independence in later life—but how much does the home environment contribute to that risk?

Join us on Thursday 9 July at 11am for a FREE webinar, hosted by Closomat and presented by Adam Ferry from The Occupational Therapy Service.

This session will explore how everyday living spaces influence falls risk, with particular attention to the bathroom, where many incidents occur.

You'll learn how to:
• Recognise the complex interaction between intrinsic, extrinsic and behavioural factors that contribute to falls.
• Identify common environmental hazards within the home.
• Apply environmental assessment and adaptation principles to support safer personal care routines.
• Understand how adaptive equipment and assistive technology can enhance stability, independence and carer safety.

Participants will receive a CPD certificate, with the webinar contributing 1 hour of CPD.

1 in 3 people with a learning disability spend less than one hour outside their home on a typical Saturday.*

Behind that statistic are real lives, missed opportunities to connect with others, enjoy everyday moments and take part in community life. Barriers at home and in the community can affect confidence, choice and the ability to get out and about—from everyday routines through to access to transport, services and inclusive spaces.

While no single solution can address social isolation, creating more accessible environments at home and in the community can make a meaningful difference. At Closomat, we’re proud to play a small part in this by supporting dignity, privacy and greater control over daily routines through accessible toilet solutions in both private homes and public settings—helping open doors to greater participation, confidence and independence.
