Trotman Funeral Directors

Trotman Funeral Directors An independent family funeral director and memorial mason, caring for the local community since 1933

Trotman Funeral Directors started in the winter of 1933 under the ownership of Mr. William John (Jack) Trotman and has become rooted in the village of Cranmore, near Shepton Mallet in Somerset and the surrounding community for the past four generations. We are proud to say that the business still enjoys the active involvement of family with Mr Trotman’s grandson, John Reakes caring for the communi

ty just as he did. The newest member of staff is Lee Fagan D’Oris who has many years’ experience working with the bereaved. Oswald Clarke Funeral Directors started back in 1947 under the husband and wife partnership of Oswald and Ismay Clarke and has become established in the town of Bruton and the encompassing area. In 1993, due to Oswald and Ismay taking a less active role in the running of their business, Trotman Funeral Directors were invited to take over the day to day running of the company. Under a change of ownership in 2014 we came under the Forsey and Son name, still retaining our professional and caring service within the local community. Membership of the professional organisations regulating funeral directing provides reassurance that we observe strict codes of practice in all aspects of our work. Owners Adrian Forsey and his son Samuel with their colleagues would be pleased to assist you with any matters in complete confidence. Trotman Funeral Directors is an appointed representative of Golden Charter Limited trading as Golden Charter Funeral Plans which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN:965279)

🚶 Leg 2: Complete! ✅

An absolutely stunning walk through the Somerset countryside and woodlands, the sun was shining for us and a lovely welcome back to Butleigh for us, with bacon rolls and lots of cups of tea.

Thank you to Helen Forsey for the sustenance at the end.

What was most encouraging was the amount of donations that came through whilst we were walking - they really helped spur us on. A big thank you to everyone who donated today and also, who has already donated.

We have one leg left tomorrow morning - an 8 mile jaunt from Butleigh to Glastonbury, where we will celebrate the end of our challenge, the money we have raised and 80 years of Forsey and Son.

🚶 Leg 2: Pound Pool, Somerton to 28 High Street, Butleigh

The second leg is officially underway!

A few sore muscles following yesterday's cycle, but another stunning day for it and the promise of bacon rolls at the end is motivating us! Further, the thought of everyone who has so generously donated is spurring us on even more.

If you feel like you can give anything to these two amazing charities, please use the link below.

🚴 Leg 1: Complete! ✅

The final hill into Somerton was a challenge, but we made it all in one piece! And also, we just beat the downpour!! 🌧️

Thanks to for the halfway fuel stop. Also thanks to Tony’s Fish & Chips for the post-cycle sustenance!

Thanks also for the donations that came in during the cycle - they certainly spurred us on! Please keep going, we have two more events and any donations are gratefully received!

A beautifully cool day to kick off our Cycle and Stroll event, raising money for two amazing charities Children's Hospice South West and Dorothy House Hospice Care , and celebrating 80 years of Forsey and Son.

We are all wearing specially made t-shirts for the event - and of course the requisite high-vis! If you spot us on the road, give us a wave!

💙 Every donation makes a difference. Every pound helps provide comfort, dignity and expert care.

As part of our 80th Anniversary Cycle & Stroll, we're raising money for two incredible local charities:
🚲 Children's Hospice South West
🚶 Dorothy House Hospice Care

This week we'd like to shine a spotlight on the amazing work of Dorothy House Hospice Care, supporting patients and families across our local community with compassionate palliative and end of life care.

Just imagine...

💙 £6 could provide a hand-held fan to help keep a patient comfortable when they're experiencing the uncomfortable side effects of medication.

🏡 £20 could fund a one-hour visit from a Clinical Support Assistant, offering practical support, therapeutic care and guidance to a patient and their family at home.

💚 £33 could fund a specialist physiotherapy session, helping patients improve mobility and manage symptoms such as pain, fatigue and breathlessness.

We're now aiming to reach our next milestone of £1,000. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, helps Dorothy House continue providing compassionate care and support to local families when they need it most.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. Your generosity is helping us make a real difference across Somerset and beyond. 💙
