Most overthinking comes from trying to control things that were never yours to carry.

The ancient Greeks understood this deeply.

Peace doesn’t come from “thinking less.”
It comes from knowing where your energy belongs.

Some things are within your control:
• Your actions
• Your effort
• Your response

Some things never were:
• Other people
• The future
• Every possible outcome

The moment you separate the two, the mind gets quieter.

Not because life becomes perfect -
but because your attention becomes intentional.

Challenging our thoughts

This is one of the most important skills we can teach our young people ... and ourselves!

Anxious based thinking takes ambigious situations and makes them negative - often without any evidence! This can then turn into a cycle of being hurt and avoiding, which reinforces the negative belief!

Challenging our thoughts means challenging our automatic negative beliefs about ourselves, others and the world and can open us up to completely different experiences 💖

Mental health does not exist in a vacuum.

We cannot separate emotional suffering from the world people are trying to survive in. Poverty, isolation, insecure housing, exhaustion, constant pressure, cruelty, indifference and the loss of real community all shape mental wellbeing.

Many people are trying to treat distress without fully acknowledging the world they live in. We are struggling in systems and environments that leave little room for rest, connection, safety, or belonging.

We live in a culture that often values productivity over people, appearance over authenticity and busyness over genuine relationships. We are more connected digitally than ever, yet many people feel deeply alone.

If we truly care about mental health, we have to look beyond the individual and ask harder questions about the kind of society we are creating and what it means to live well together.

Healing is not only personal. It is social, relational, and collective too.
