It's exam season.

And while your teenager might seem completely unbothered — you're lying awake at 2am running through every possible outcome.

The revision they didn't do. The exam they're not ready for. The future that feels like it's balancing on the next few weeks.

(For the record — my own son is doing his A levels right now and has actually been putting the work in. He reads my posts. Hi Josh 👋😄)

But I know that's not every household right now.

Here's the thing — exam stress doesn't just affect the student. It ripples through the whole family. The atmosphere at home changes. You're walking on eggshells. You're holding your own anxiety AND theirs.

That's a lot to carry.

So if nobody has asked you how YOU are lately — I'm asking.

How are you doing?

That's me. And that's my dad.

This is his apron.

Practical. Fits perfectly. Does exactly what an apron should do.

And every single time I put it on, I think of him.

That's not me being unable to move on. That's not me stuck in grief.

That's what we call a continuing bond — the idea that love doesn't end when someone dies. It just changes shape.

It lives in an apron.
In a song that comes on unexpectedly.
In the way you take your tea.
In a turn of phrase you didn't realise you'd inherited.

We don't have to let go of the people we've lost.

We just learn to carry them differently.

Grief isn't something you get over. It's something you learn to hold.

To work as though you don't have children.

To parent as though you don't work.

To care for everyone around you while somehow still functioning perfectly yourself.

Sound familiar?

I've been thinking a lot about why so many women feel emotionally exhausted — not tired in a way that sleep fixes, but tired in a way that goes much deeper than that.

I've written about it on the blog this week.

Last week I opened the doors to my new Bereavement Support Group in Gosberton — a gentle, welcoming space for anyone navigating grief or loss.

I’m hoping to support as many local people as I can through this group, so if you feel comfortable sharing this post, it genuinely could help it reach somebody who may really need it right now.

And whilst I’m here, if anybody would be kind enough to share my counselling page too, I’d honestly really appreciate it.

All details are on the poster below, but please feel free to message me privately with any questions.

I run a bereavement drop-in locally and wanted to share in case it helps anyone...

Next Tuesday is my next bereavement drop-in — this time at 6:30pm.

This is what to expect.

You come in.

There's a cup of tea, if you want one.

It's warm and quiet and there's no agenda.

Nobody will ask you to share anything you're not ready to share.

Nobody will tell you how to grieve or where you should be by now.

You won't have to sit and listen to other people's pain if that feels too much.

You can talk. You can listen. You can just sit with people who get it.

That's it. That's all it is.

The women I sit with are often terrified to truly let their grief in.

Like if they really feel it — all of it — it will consume them.

It won't.

Grief isn't something that swallows you.

It's something that moves through you.

But only when you stop holding it at arm's length.

If you're exhausted from carrying it alone, I'm here.

I offer a free 15 minute call — no pressure, just a conversation.

All set up and ready.

If you’re local and have been thinking about coming along, you’re very welcome.

If you’re not local, support still exists. There are often groups, spaces and people closer to home than you might realise. If I can help point you in the right direction, I’ll always try.

I also work online and by telephone for women across the UK. Sometimes just knowing there’s a space to talk can make things feel a little less heavy.
