Why join hemi hands at home membership??

Hemi Hands at Home was created to give families

Specialist upper limb knowledge

Practical therapy ideas for home

Ongoing support and accountability

A supportive community of families who understand the journey

Because parents spend more time with their child than any therapist ever will — and with the right support, they can become incredibly skilled at creating meaningful therapy opportunities at home.

Our next “Starting Together” intake begins June 2026, although families can join at any time.

Before then, we’re also running FREE live sessions so families can come and experience the membership first with no pressure at all.

You’ve been told therapy matters…

But one of the biggest things families tell us after a diagnosis of hemiplegia is that nobody really explains how to make therapy work at home and there is not enough support.

What should you do?
How often?
How do you fit it into everyday life without it becoming overwhelming?

That is exactly why we created Hemi Hands at Home.

A specialist membership designed to support families navigating upper limb therapy at home through:
• Therapy modules
• Practical CIMT and Bimanual guidance
• Sunday children’s Zoom sessions
• Parent Q and A sessions
• Ongoing therapist support
• A community of families who understand the journey

Research shows children make the biggest gains when therapy is consistent, supported and built into everyday life.

Our next intake begins in June 2026, with families joining together to learn, ask questions and grow in confidence together.

You can still join at any time.

We are also offering:
FREE Parent Q and A session
12th May at 8pm

FREE Children’s Zoom session
17th May at 9am

ahead of the relaunch so families can experience the membership before deciding if it feels right for them.

Links will be shared in stories.

What improvement can I expect?

It’s one of the most common questions families ask us.

The honest answer is that we can never promise exact outcomes.
Every child’s progress is influenced by many factors, and no two journeys look the same.

What we can do is use experience, assessment, and evidence-based practice to build a realistic picture of what progress might look like for your child, and set meaningful, child-specific goals together.

We don’t sell false hope.
But we also don’t limit children by early assumptions or self-fulfilling prophecies.
As long as a child is progressing (even slowly) we continue to work towards improving confidence, function, and participation.

What is CIMT? 💜

CIMT (Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy) is an evidence-based approach designed to help children gain skills with their affected hand in order to use it more confidently and more often.

It has three core parts:
🧤 a constraint on the stronger hand
🎯 repetition of meaningful movements through play
🧠 Transfer Package – the psychological part of the programme

The Transfer Package is where real change happens.
As movements are repeated in motivating, playful ways, neuroplasticity is activated. Over time, the brain begins to trust the affected hand, believe in its ability, and choose to use it more in everyday life.

CIMT isn’t about forcing movement.
It’s about building confidence, changing habits, and helping children discover what their hand can do – at home, at school, and in play.

✨ Celebrating Jen ✨

We’ve been hearing such wonderful feedback about our new therapist, Jen, and we couldn’t be prouder to have her on the Helping Hemi Hands team.

We already knew but families have commented on her warmth, creativity and the way she makes therapy fun while still getting those all-important repetitions in.

We know there’s often a wait to start therapy with us, and that’s because we don’t rush when it comes to finding the right people. Every therapist on our team is carefully chosen and trained so that families can trust they’re in the very best hands.

Jen is a perfect example of why this process matters – the right therapist can make all the difference for your child’s journey. 💙

Not sure if your child needs therapy? Here are 5 signs to watch for 👀

1. Delayed milestones
Is your child not sitting, crawling, or walking when expected? Small delays can signal a need for support.

2. Difficulty using one side of the body
If your child favors one hand or foot early on, it may be a sign of hemiplegia or muscle weakness.

3. Trouble with play or movement
Struggling to grasp toys, reach, or move with ease during play may indicate underlying motor challenges.

4. Poor coordination or balance
Frequent falls or clumsy movements could mean your child needs help developing motor control.

5. You have a gut feeling
You know your child best. If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts - early help makes a difference.

Worried your child may need support?

We offer personalised assessments, home programs and online consultations designed just for your child.

Why is supination so important?

Turning the palm up — is essential for tasks like feeding, dressing, and play. But for children with hemiplegia, it’s often a movement that’s weak, tight, or compensated for with awkward postures. That’s why we try to focus on it in therapy!

Swipe through to see what supination looks like, why it matters, and how we train it using fun, play-based activities

💻 Want to learn how to help your child at home?
Our Supination Module available on the Helping Hemi Hands website walks you through everything — from understanding the movement to games, strategies, and video demos you can use right away.

👉 Head to the link in our bio to access the module and support your child’s upper limb journey today!

As parents, you want to give your child every chance to grow, move with confidence, and live as independently as possible 🌟

That’s why a specialised Intensive Upper Limb Therapy Program has been developed specifically for children with hemiplegia to support them in reaching their fullest potential.

What to Expect
✅ Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT): During CIMT, your child’s dominant arm is placed in a cast to encourage use of the hemiplegic arm. This approach provides the opportunity for repetitive practice of unimanual movements and actions, promoting neuroplastic changes and reducing secondary musculoskeletal impairments.
✅ Bimanual Therapy: Bimanual therapy helps children develop the skills needed for two handed tasks by encouraging specific actions and behaviors through repetitive, goal oriented play activities.
