New Dispensary Times:

Monday to Friday 9 am to 1 pm (NOTE FOR PATIENTS SEEN THAT MORNING BY GP, ONLY) and 3pm to 5.45 pm (FOR ALL PATIENTS). Appointments at surgery:

1) Open access for all 8 am to 10.30 am, Please note Doctor starts seeing patients from 9 am onwards. Children and patients with Learning disabilities will be given priority during these sessions.

2) Telephone appointments availabl

e for housebound and working patients, telephone between 8 am and 10.30 am to book in each day.

3) We are open for evening surgery appointments for working patients and young children.

Cleaner Required – Millview Surgery, Rocester

We are looking for a reliable and experienced Cleaner to join our team at a busy GP Surgery.

Hours:
• 10–12 hours per week
• Working hours must be before 8:00am or after 6:00pm Monday to Friday

Pay:
• National Minimum Wage

Duties:
• Cleaning and maintaining both clinical and non-clinical areas to a high standard.
• Following infection prevention and control procedures.
• Safe use and storage of cleaning chemicals in accordance with COSHH regulations.
• Ensuring all areas are clean, hygienic, and ready for use.
Requirements:
• Previous professional cleaning experience is essential.
• Good knowledge and understanding of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations.
• Ability to work independently and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
• Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.

We are looking for a friendly, organised, and reliable GP Receptionist to join our busy medical practice.
Working Hours:

• Monday 8am -3pm
• Tuesday 12.30pm – 6.30pm
• Thursday 10am-5pm
• Total: 20 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:
• Greeting patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner
• Answering telephone calls and responding to enquiries
• Booking and managing patient appointments
• Maintaining accurate patient records
• Processing prescriptions and administrative tasks
• Liaising with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals

Requirements:
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Good IT and administrative skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Previous reception or healthcare experience is desirable but not essential

🔴 Heat-Health Alert Escalated to Red

The UK Health Security Agency has escalated the Heat-Health Alert to Red for the Midlands and much of southern England until 25 June.

This is the highest level of alert and has only been issued once before, during the extreme heat experienced in 2022.

A Red Heat-Health Alert indicates a risk to life, even for healthy people, and can also affect transport, water supplies and other essential services.

Please remember to:

💧 Drink plenty of fluids
🏠 Keep your home as cool as possible
☀️ Avoid the hottest part of the day where you can
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Check in on older relatives, neighbours and anyone who may need extra support

☀️ We know some people welcome the warmer weather, but hot temperatures can affect health, especially for babies and young children, older people, and those with long-term health conditions.

An amber heat health alert is in effect from today until Friday 26 June.

During this time, help keep yourself and others safe by:

☀️ Keeping out of the sun where possible, especially between 11am and 3pm
👕 Wearing sunscreen, a hat and light clothing when outside
💧 Drinking plenty of water and other cold drinks
🍷 Avoiding too much alcohol and limiting caffeine
🪟 Keeping windows and curtains closed during the day to help keep rooms cooler
👥 Checking in on vulnerable family, friends and neighbours

The HPV vaccine is saving lives.

New research by Queen Mary University of London and Cancer Research UK shows deaths have fallen sharply since school-age girls began being offered it in 2008, and around 200 lives have been saved in England so far thanks to the vaccine.

The vaccine protects against high-risk HPV, a virus that can lead to cervical cancer and some other cancers.

Both girls and boys can get protection from high-risk HPV by having the HPV vaccination in their teenage years. It not only protects against cervical cancer, but other types of cancer too.

You can help protect your child by giving consent for them to have their vaccination when invited.

And remember: cervical screening is still important, even if you’ve had the HPV vaccine.

East Staffordshire Primary Care Network is proud to be playing a key role in a new regional research network designed to bring more clinical trials, innovative treatments and research opportunities closer to local communities.

The Central and North West Midlands Commercial Research Delivery Centre has now officially launched and will work with partners across the Midlands to help make research more accessible, particularly for communities who may experience health inequalities or poorer health outcomes.

By supporting this work locally, East Staffordshire PCN is helping to create more opportunities for patients and communities to take part in research, while also supporting the development of new treatments, medicines and healthcare technologies.
