Being active is one of the best ways to improve your physical and mental wellbeing. ๐Ÿ’›

Regular physical activity can:
โœจ Improve sleep and mood
โœจ Reduce stress
โœจ Help maintain a healthy weight
โœจ Strengthen muscles and bones
โœจ Reduce the risk of illnesses such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, depression, and some cancers

Getting and staying active is about equality, inclusivity, having fun, and finding activities that make you feel good. ๐Ÿ’›

The UK Chief Medical Officersโ€™ Physical Activity Guidelines for Disabled Children and Young People highlight the many benefits of moving more, including:
โœจ Meeting new people
โœจ Building confidence and concentration
โœจ Developing balance and coordination
โœจ Strengthening muscles and motor skills
โœจ Supporting mental health and wellbeing
โœจ Feeling calmer and less stressed
โœจ Creating a sense of achievement

For good health benefits, aim for around 20 minutes of physical activity per day. Activities can be broken into small, manageable chunks throughout the day and built up slowly at your own pace. ๐ŸŒˆ

Strength and balance activities are also encouraged at least 3 times a week, always focusing on what feels challenging but manageable.

Remember: every little bit of activity counts, and small amounts of movement are good for you too. ๐Ÿ’ช

Our previous winner Vanessa has kindly nominated the following person:

From day one, Lyndsey has always been friendly, supportive and approachable, and she genuinely makes people feel welcome and included within the team.

She has a really calm and encouraging way about her and is always willing to help others. I also really admire how she pushes herself outside of her comfort zone and continues to grow professionally.

Recently, Lyndsey delivered training at the Orrell Edge which was really well received, and patients regularly speak highly of her following appointments and sessions. It is obvious how much she cares about the people she works with and supports.

Lyndsey is such a valued part of the team and I think she really deserves recognition for the kindness, positivity and professionalism she brings every day.
